Christ is so much more than Yuletide, but it all begins in the manger. The baby
came to be the Savior of all mankind, should they choose eternal life.May our Mormon friends find the Christ of the manger, the Christ of history,
the true Messiah Who gave the gift of eternal life through giving His life. All
other concoctions are "other Christs" and will not plumb the depths of
the eternal soul nor pay the price of sin.Don't leave earth
without the real Savior:"He who has the Son has life; he who does not
have the Son does not have eternal life."
The Christmas Devotional was wonderful! Thank you President Monson, Sister
Wixom, Elder Rasband, Elder Nelson, the Tabernacle Choir, those who offered
prayers, the behind-the-scenes technicians and volunteers...for gentle reminders
that Christmas is about Christ. He is the gift from a loving Heavenly Father.
What would He have me do? That is up to me to ponder and then to act upon...
RE: OnlyTheCrossWe have already found HIM and HE lives.May you find HIM too.
I would estimate that there are thousands, perhaps millions, of such messages
propagated throughout the world at this time of year. I would not fault the
message and the good that it does for us to hear it. I feel that there’s
no limit to the worth of aids in the civilization of human beings.
No mortal can fully see into the heart of another to know whether or not they
have accepted Jesus as their personal Savior. Christ alone is the judge of that.
He gave us a clue that we find in the New Testament...by their fruits ye shall
know them. The best of those fruits is love to our fellow-man. My
wish, one I have had all my life since I was a child is that the judging will
stop. While growing up I was kicked out of three churches when it was
discovered that I was a Mormon. The first time it was my fault. I disagreed with
the Sunday School teacher, but I was only five. After that I learned to keep my
mouth shut but that didn't always help. Loving those who hurt and judge us
is difficult and I know it is also difficult for anti-Mormons not to accuse us
of not being Christian. Again, only God knows who has truly been born again.
Some Mormons have, some haven't. The same with all denominations.
@ Breathe Deep--Very well stated. Thank you!
Like they said, it is all about Chirst.I am looking forward for some
future day, when all the Christians will drop their Seasom Spendings and move
their efforts toward other parts of the world, where help is needed much
more.Until then, let us enjoy Christmas.
I loved President Monson's talk but found that I really, really missed
hearing from the First Presidency. The other speakers were lovely, but not the
same as hearing from Pres. Uchtdorf and Pres. Eyring. This
year's set and colors were off and the crowd lighting was really too
bright, not dimmed like before...not nearly as beautiful as in previous years.
Missed the old format!!!!
I was real exicted to hear Thomas S Monson/1st Presidency, shared the christmas
Spirit message and holy spirit with other Lds church leaders to spread the
christmas message. Thomas S Monson/1st Presidency made a wise choice, by having
Rosemary Wixom (a wise and insightful woman in the Lds church. I would love to
hear Sister Elaine Dalton and Sister Cheri Dew/ Maybe the Missionaries/Mission
president from Mtc Provo Utah.Globle treker, the Lds church is in the
modern world and has to reach their Christmas message to many different
cultures/colour and creed. Thomas S Monson and the 1st Presidency, please
bring new friends from the Lds church for next years Christmas Devotional.Deseret News , may the Christmas spirit and Holy spirit be with you for the
May we all find the Christ of Christendom. A three in one being who isn't
human, but is everywhere but nowhere, intangible, so large that He (I mean
it,since God is not male or female) that it can fill the universe, but so small
that it can dwell in your heart. That we might find the God who sent himself and
then prayed to himself, "Myself, Myself, why have I forsaken myself."
The God who was perfectly happy without us, but made us for fun. He (it) made
heaven and hell and people to go to both. A God whose only purpose for us is to
say He (it) is our savior then we can avoid going to the hell which He made.
Those who grow accustomed to getting "things" for good behavior, will be sorely disappointed with Heaven.
@aubrey1-Your version of Christ and Christendom does not exist in the
Bible any more than the polygamous, man-evolved God who visited South America
does. But hope springs eternal...I do apologize for my unkind post,
which came off snarky and sanctimonious. Pres. Monson's message was a
sweet, wise and encouraging one for believers at this busy season. And I
don't think Jesus appreciates me using His special season to register my
disagreement with LDS theology. It detracted from 'the Reason for the
Season', His Advent into human time to give us Life and Life!I
celebrated 35 beautiful Mormon Christmases, for which I give much thankfulness
for the joyful memories.Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday to the
Those who chastise those for growing accustomed to getting things for good
behavior will surely be disappointed with heaven....
