Dallin Oaks was also in attendance I believe.
Should have put Elder Perry in the game he has the type of attitude I want to
see on and off the field. At 91 he has more fight than the Aggies did in that
game. Here's to lessons learned, I wish USU quit making such a
big deal about BYU, perhaps we would show up.I wish BYU would end
the denial, "not caring" about The USU game that much.
Elder Perry often shows up at BYU football games.
Loved the game. It was fun to watch. Enjoy the BYU vs USU rivalry. Nice to
have the support of church leaders for BOTH schools.
"Northern",Does it bother you if in fact BYU fans don't care
very much about it? Seems like there would be better things with which to
concern oneself. For the record, I don't "care" whether BYU plays
Utah State. I am glad that they do because the Aggies always provide a good
measuring stick early in the season and, if BYU beats them in Logan, I know
it's a big deal. If USU were to win on a neutral court, I would frankly
say, "good for them" and move on. Now, if the opponent were Utah, I
would admittedly be not nearly as generous in my feelings--I want to win. That
happens when you get some vitriol from opposing fans, and you can't avoid
dealing with them on a regular basis. But, frankly, the percentage of people
who are Utah State fans anywhere outside the vicinity of Cache Valley is low
enough that they can't be seriously considered rivals from the BYU side
when we already have another school with similar feelings toward us that is
I'm going to have to disagree with "Cougar Passion". I do care. I
am a BYU fan first but I'm also a U of U fan and a Utah State fan. And
anytime that the Cougars play another instate school it's a big deal. Utah
State is a quality basketball program and it has only been in the last few years
that BYU has caught back up with them. Be a good fan and a gentleman/lady.
I once guarded Elder Oaks in a pick-up bb game at the Y, when he was BYU
President and I a student there...it was good to see him show his interest,
practicing the preaching of physical fitness, exercise, etc. The Brethren
should not fear but engage in activity with the Saints, as we are all in this
together...if they cheer against the Cougars, we'll be on different sides
at the game, but always as one in the Gospel.
