So is Nevada byu's rival now?
Yes, Chris. Aren't you glad that the season could end with the Utes
playing their rival, Colorado, and BYU playing their rival, Nevada? Wow, what
an exciting end to the season for both teams. Oh, I forgot. BYU has one more
Funny thing BYU beat a team that is better than Colorado.Colorado beat 2
FBS teams. LOLKeep bragging about your new rival.
Great job, Logan Ta'ele, that's my dude! I believe he's still a
walk on, but if he's not on scholarship next year, shame on Bronco.
He's another of a number of Southern Utah guys that would have had more
than a couple scholarship offers out of high school if he had come from any high
school between Spanish Fork and Ogden, and he'll be a big contributor on
the defense the next couple years.BeSmart, according to the BYU
fans' bible, aka Sagarin ratings, Colorado is a MUCH better team than UNR.
It is so funny the Ute fans keep saying they have moved on and now state
Colorado, (sorry, just had a laughing fit), is their big rival. And yet they
keep coming to byu articles and posting. Just a little bit of inconsistency
there. We are so glad you have a new rival, because to the byu players, and I
played their, you have not been our rival for nearly 40 years..just another
game, that is it. But don't be upset about it, you are in the Pac 12 now,
so things could not possibly get any better, right?
9293, you must've been a much better player than Kyle Van Noy then, because
he called the game the team's Super Bowl. You're kidding yourself more
than Chris B and any others who call Colorado their rival if you, who
"played their (sic)," don't consider Utah BYU's rival.
Report card doesn't matter when you own more wins, and bowl game victories
than any other in the state.Everything thing else is sour grapes!
worf, sounds like you're the one with sour grapes. Utah has just as many
bowl victories as BYU.
StGtoSLCKVN is a great player, but he speaks only for himself when
referring to the rivalry game as BYU's "Super Bowl".
Chamberlain, I thought that was the role of a captain, was to speak on behalf of
the team that he is the leader of. Every BYU fan I personally know treats the
game that way, BYU players I've known treated the game that way, and the
fans that absolutely come unglued online here would indicate it that way, too.
There's no shame in admitting that it's the biggest game on the
schedule, but I think there is in denying it to try and save face for a loss
after the fact.
@ BeSmartColorado is ranked #80. Nevada is ranked 105. CU >
UNR@ 9293We all know Utah and BYU are each others main
rival. Saying that the U hasn't been your rival for 40 years make you sound
Chris, Nevada is no more BYU's rival than Colorado is yours. I'm pretty sure a win over BYU (whatever sport) will always be sweeter
than a win over CO.
StGtoSLC "..., I thought that was the role of a captain.."Apparently you are not aware that KVN was not elected as a team captain.FAIL.
@StGtoSLCWhile KVN was not elected as a team captain this year,
EVERY Cougar fan knows he is the heartbeat behind the defense whether he wears
the C or not. I do believe the whole team thought the Ute game was
one of, if not, the biggest games of the year. But that goes for each and every
game. Bronco doesn't treat the Ute game any differently than all other
games throughout the year. Which is probably why he is 0-4 in the last four. We
know Whitingham pays special attention to the BYU game, and he should. That is
the game that can likely sway instate High School kids deciding between the Utes
and BYU. I think what keeps both teams on fairly equal grounds is that while the
Utes are beating us, they don't go to a bowl game and look awful as the
PAC-12 cellar dwellars. Whereas, the Cougs lose the game (which just KILLS me),
but go on to play some nationally prominent teams and get all sorts of ESPN
exposure, then play a bowl game. If one teams is able to run the
table a few years in a row, the balance will sway.
Surf, I was not aware. I follow many of BYU's results, and I follow more
closely the guys that I know who play there, but don't hang on bated breath
to know things like which players are elected captains. I wrongfully assumed
that the guy who is the unquestioned leader of the team on the field, the one
who receives all the publicity, the one who is most frequently interviewed and
in the headlines, and the only one who has single-handedly won several games for
the team when it seemed the rest of the starters seemed content to let his
efforts alone pace them, would be elected by his peers as captain. I was wrong
about that, so that's your victory, congratulations.
Colby, I do believe you that Bronco does his best to maintain an even keel for
the rivalry game, and tries to get his players to do the same. But as you said,
it's obvious that the game is not the same as Nevada, Virginia, Idaho
State, or even Wisconsin for the players. Those teams aren't loaded with
players that the majority of the team grew up playing with or against, talk
weekly with, etc. It's a big game for both teams.
