Good thing MUSS seating isn't first-come-first-served because the line would already be forming for Utah's big "rivalry" game.

Just make sure it's a rumble, not a stumble.

It doesn't feel right to me to have Utah playing Colorado and BYU playing Nevada on the regular season finale for both teams.
In a down (non-bowl-eligible) year, wouldn't the Utes rather play BYU in late Nov. with the possibility of ending the season with an actual meaningful victory?

I'd like to see BYU have their final 2 regular season games come against Utah and Utah St (1 home and 1 away) every year.

Utah has had winnable games, Oregon State, ASU but didn't get the job done. This football season
didn't work out. Travis Wilson may never play again but hopefully he can recover.

This is what's its all about in a prestigous conference! A big rivalry game at the end of the year! Can't wait for Saturday! We will win Colorado by 32.

    Utes 32
    Colorado 17

    Go Utes!

...why the Utes would wait until the last game of the season to "win for the seniors?"

Get a final win for the seniors and for Coach Whitt. Nice to send him on his way with a win.

It's a battle of 4-7 teams to see who will finish 10th and who will finish 11th out of 12 teams...not exactly the kind of game that you hope to play at the end of the season.

Best of luck to Utah this weekend, although I can't help but feel a little sorry for them. I imagine Ute fans are more than a little disappointed with how their season is wrapping up again, and rightfully so. Still, it would be nice to end that 5 game losing streak.

This is what dreams are made of, playing Colorado to crown the 10th best team in the Pac 12. Either way, I've already got another batch of Pac 12 stickers ordered and on the way!

I'm excited for the Utes and this last game. Nothing like the Buffs coming to RES and fighting for the coveted Golden Buffalo Chip Trophy right fellow Ute fans?

Obviously this is kind of an anti-climatic end of a not so great season, nothing like 2011, but it's what we are used to these days.

Since nothing is on the line we can just sit back, enjoy the game, plan for the holidays and speculate about the several coaching changes coming down the road.

Go Utes, Go Buffs... everyone gets participation trophies and PAC 12 stickers!

Utes 8-18 vs Prestigious PAC-12. You don't belong!!!!!!! Yes you guys won the state championship this year. Congrats......not much to brag about. You belong in the mountain west with Utah state and so does BYU. Downwards and backwards!!!!!

As much fun as it is to rip on each other all season long, I honestly hope these seniors are able to go out with a win. The ball doesn't always bounce the way we hope it will, but from a a Cougar, these guys deserve it. Good luck on Saturday

Why send them out with a win? They had their opportunity to win the games they should have. Just because they spent all their energy on the one game they want to win every year and sacrifice all the others in hopes they will get lucky and catch a few teams off-guard, does not bode well with history. The u has tried to rub it in to anyone who they played in the MWC that they were somehow better than anyone else and has failed to prove anything other than that they are a legend in their own mind and just a wanna be to everyone else.

No bowl game for the second year in a row spells disaster for the team on the hill, but looking up at the other teams in the state.

I haven't seen the improvement everyone was hyping. I see Utah came out and played well the first half of the season, but have dropped off considerably. I'm curious if Whitt's attempt to get everyone to buy into the "we are improving even if we can't win" mantra if Utah loses to Colorado again works. Go Utes. don't lose to Colorado again. Please.

Either way something has to change for the coming years. Bring it.

I did not see any of the ute's game as I was out of town at another football game which turned out to be a bit disappointing as well, but it is pretty obvious that utah is not what their "fans" thought they were. I can go back and get the quotes if any of you want, you know the immediate "rose bowls" and "pac 12 south titles", even "national championships" that sort of stuff.

It is an interesting thing when reality bites you as it so obviously has bitten most utah "fans". Sure some of you, like christina, are still completely deluded, but most of you are at least now somewhat aware of what you are and what your place in the pac12 really is.

Someday utah will have a great year, someday they actually will make it to the rose bowl, someday those things will happen, it is probably just going to be a long time before it does. In the meantime you can keep celebrating the accomplishments of other pac12 schools because conference is all that matters anyway, your own team is just secondary.

'Nuff said. Mark it down. Better luck next year.

How did this team ever beat Stanford?

Utah and Colorado look evenly matched on paper. This should be a great game. I'm picking the Utes with the home field, but this could have a dramatic ending just like the Utah vs. Colorado game 2011.

And yes there are some bragging rights that go with the game. The loser of the game captures last place in the South. Good luck to U.

Well, we can still accomplish one thing byu couldn't: beat our rival. So far, Colorado has proven a better rival than our last rival.

    Go Utes!

    Brad,

byu isn't our rival. Why are you confused?

    @Chris:
BYU did beat its rival, and looked good doing it: BSU 20, BYU 37.

Let's see if the Utes can best that margin of victory against their rival. Good luck with that.

4 of Utah's 7 losses came to teams currently ranked in the top 25. BYU only played two and lost to them both. BYU would have lost 3 or 4 more games had they had Utah's schedule. I would rather see Utah play the best and lose than play BYU's schedule and go to a bowl game.

Sure i'm disappointed that the Utes didn't do better this year. But at least we can hold our heads up and say we took our best shot, which is more than BYU can say given their weak schedule.

Tell all the Seniors to invite their friends and family... It's going to be open seating... I'm expecting 25,400 in attendance... Come on and root for your home town team to escape the cellar and "snag" that coveted 5th place in the 6 team southern division of the big bad pac12... lol.

  • poyman Lincoln City, OR
    Nov. 26, 2013 12:52 a.m.

    chris b,

Not true, we did beat our rival this year... handily...

    BYU 38 Boise State 20...

Btw, how have the utes done against Boise State??? lol.

    @samarai joke

Losers gain perspective, it looks like utah "fans" have gained a lot of perspective.

  • poyman Lincoln City, OR
    Nov. 26, 2013 10:48 a.m.

So chris b, I understand that the utes are having their banquet again this year at Chucky Cheese Pizza... I also heard that it's scheduled for the 27th of December and that everyone is going to get a participation trophy... I only hope that it ends in time for all of them to rush home and catch the Fight Hunger Bowl on TV... They will be able to see a more deserving team from their conference get beat by the Cougs...

At least one Utah team made it into a bowl game (again and again)

I kind of feel sorry for the players though... Had they decided to go to BYU (assuming they were recruited by the Cougs)they could have enjoyed bowling during the holidays their entire college career... year after year...

    Go Buffs!

  • Sambonethegreat Salt Lake City, UT
    Nov. 26, 2013 11:33 a.m.

BYU fans bragging about beating their "rival" BSU? This has to be a joke. BYU has beaten Boise State ONE TIME in school history. That's not a rivalry.

While I admit it's fun bagging on the Utes' new "rival," BYU fans can do better (and be more clever) than that.

  • poyman Lincoln City, OR
    Nov. 26, 2013 6:46 p.m.

The Cougs are on their 3rd game of a multi year contract with the Broncos... We now have split, they have won one and the Cougs have won one... To me that's a rivalry and a much more competitive one than the old BYU vs Utah game...

Boise State has Classy fans, we both respect each other, and Boise State is a much better football school than the utes... The Broncos won the first 3 games in the series (one by one point on a BYU missed "go for 2 attempt with 3 minutes left t o go in the game and the one before that BYU lost by a couple of points when BYU's game winning FG bounced off the cross bar at the very end of the game... The first game in the series they won decisively and BYU won decisively this time.

By the way, how have the utes done against the Bronco's??? LOL.
