What are you doing telling us about wilson's injury?! That is private info and no utah "fan" should be in the least bit curious as to why wilson won't play!

Remember when Utah had no chance to beat Stanford?

Considering there is one coach and one coach only in the state if Utah who has ever beaten an end of season top 10 team, and that coach coaches for the PAC 12 utes, I like our chances as much as we can against a great Oregon team.

And their qb is hurt as well.

Shulz is going to play well I think.

    Make us proud utes!

OUCH! That is gonna hurt, especially since Whit promised us that Wilson was 100% and ready to go. Schultz will be like a deer staring into the scope of rifle. This does not look good.
New prediction; Ducks 65 utes 3

It could be worse, we could be playing a nobody tomorrow for senior day, with no real conference wanting us, and no future outside of fighting Utah state for the second most prestigious program in the state!

Whittingham and Erickson have both proven they are capable of producing national title contenders and top 10 teams.

It's only a matter of time before they take us back to where we belong. And yes, we are closer than our record shows. Our lowly non power conference brothers would LOVE to say they beat Stanford and took top 25 ucla, asu, and osu down to the last play.

Any other utes agree this is better than beating up on nobodies this time of year?

It will be interesting to see how Shulz does when he's able to come out as the starting QB instead of being thrown into the middle of a game. Can't hurt to have Murphy to throw to.

Here's wishing all the injured Utah players a speedy recovery.

    GO UTES!

I know utah never plays any easy games!

Weber State- All i heard after that game was how good the utsies are. LOL

And by the way the only reason utah does not want to play BYU the next two years is becasue they need an easy game to rest from their schedule. That is right BYU will always give utah a hard game.

No Chris. A loss IS NOT better than a win. Just ask the experts.
And by the way. Erickson will not be around next year. He will NOT go down with the Whit.
He is a one and done coach. Hang your hat on a few wins and a ton of moral victories all you want and keep adding multiple layers lipstick. I'm sure the bowl selection committees will overlook the 5-7 season and include the 7 moral victories in their consideration.

    -----------

Not true. We played 3 easy games this year:

    1. Weber State
    2. BYU
    3. Colorado

We still have two more games after this week so I Hope Wilson, Norris, and York heal fast. We still have a chance to save this season from being a total disaster.

    .40 cal,

Actually we thank you for giving us a gimme game the last 4 years.

We wouldnt be bowl eligible this year without you!

Yes, its tough playing with the big boys.

But its much better than being a nobody where no conference wants you!

But you'll just have to trust me on that, since you woudlnt know what its like to be invited to a real conference, playing prestigious programs week after week, and beating teams that end the season in the top 10!

Tell you what, if Oregon beats utah by more than the 54-10 margin beatdown we laid on you, I'll become a byu fan for life.

    LOL!

Frankly, I'm more worried about not having Jared Norris than I am about Travis Wilson. Wilson has been terrible lately so Shulz couldn't really be much worse. Norris, however, has been huge for our defense. We will really miss his ability to stop the run on the edges against Oregon.

I guess when your program isn't going anywhere and has no hope of ever having a schedule like Utah, you have to become fans of other PAC 12 teams. Byu can't beat us so they become fans of teams that can?

Dont byu fans have a big game against Idaho State to get ready for? Only a terrible program who accepts being mediocre at best would rather beat up on Idaho State than play a national powerhouse.

In byu's hardest scheudle ever, its still easier than a typical Utah schedule that we'll play in the Pac 12 year after year. And next year - byu's only power conference teams are Texas, Virginia(watch out!), and Cal. Maybe the big 12 will come calling....Not!

"Any other utes agree this is better than beating up on nobodies this time of year?"

Here's a Ute fan who is tired of comparing our situation to BYU's. This isn't a competition about who has the better November schedule! It's about the U competing in the PAC-12 for the Rose Bowl. Our situation is more troubling than BYU's scheduling issues in November. It seems our coaching staff has learned nothing since watching Jordan Wynn struggle. If we have five QB's on scholarship, why are we depending on a QB who already has demonstrated that we should be trying a third option?

    FACTS:

BYU has a bowl game no matter what happens the rest of the season.

Five of 6 national experts predict Utah won't go to a bowl this year (yet again).

Colorado isn't a guaranteed win (remember two years ago in SLC?) like you are claiming.

It's a bit hypocritical for those who claim Y fans cheer for teams playing Utah just because they lost to the Utes this year when there have been bumper stickers for years that say "My two favorite teams are Utah and whoever plays BYU."

Oregon stood in danger of losing their record of selling out their stadium for consecutive home games just a few weeks ago when I received an e-mail asking me to buy a ticket. (A knowledgeable friend suggested Nike would step up and buy the necessary tickets if fans did not.) What does that fact say about the Utah brand?

The Ute team that is better than last year's bunch still has one conference win this year to date.

    Ken et al:
Ya you ute fans are right. Texas, Wisconsin, ND, Georgia tech, Boise State are all just chumps in college football. BYU has the 13th ranked SOS in the country. Your SOS arguments are getting old and tired, but hey if it's an excuse that helps you deal with the mediocrity that is Utah football have at it. And enough with the we beat a top 10 team...no one, experts, media, CFB fans, anyone believes Utah's victory over Stanford to be anything but a fluke. I guess that's the benefit of playing in the PAC12...you play enough ranked teams that Murphy's law eventually has to let the sun shine on your behind at some point. Enjoy the holidays at home again. But hey u always have that SOS trophy to shine up. LOL

    @Ken:

This is our third season in the PAC-12; get over your parochial focus on BYU already. We should be more concerned about our bowl chances, our lack of offensive production, our offensive inconsistency, our offensive line and QB depth, and us getting out of the PAC-12 cellar. We're lucky that Kalalni Sataki isn't coaching in Madison - our only hope tomorrow is that he has the defense playing like they did against Stanford, USC, and last week for all four quarters of the game in Eugene.

Gentle reminder here-- this article is about the Utah/Oregon game. Back to the topic at hand. Players get hurt, it's part of the game. The frustrating part for Ute fans has got to be that Whitt didn't learn from the Wynn/Hayes fiasco. Actually I think the team is still feeling the effect of that problem because all the QB's are young and inexperienced. There was no one in the pipeline to fill in the gaps. I can't help but wonder how hot Whitt's seat will get after this season, especially if there's no bowl.
BTW--BYU played a natl. power last week and will play another big name next week-- big deal.

The Cougs and Ducks both have easy games this week. The only question is will BYU or Oregon beat their opponent by a larger margin.

Like Chris B I love the utes in the PAC 12 it gives me a chance to watch them loose week after week. Ha ha it's great. The big 12 has Kansas sec has Kentucky big 10 has Illinois and the PAC has utah and colo. I would much rather be in the cougs shoes with numerous top 25 finishes and a much better overall coach. I think bronco has 4 or 5 more top 25 finishes than whit. If utah didn't have 1 fluke season with whit as the coach he would already of been looking for a new job. I really hope he signs long term with the utes.

Hypocrisy at its finest. Weber State is 1-9. Please explain how that is better than a 3-9 team from the same division? Even Oregon's lower division team is 4-6. If any team played the weakest team, it's Utah. Again, hypocrisy at its best. Geez.

I am truly sorry for T. Wilson's health issues. I wish nothing but the best for the kid.

This QB situation is absolutely pathetic and an embarrassment. Where are the 'upper echelon' QBs?

Whit is obviously out of his league with this situation. Maybe during another long term contract with the Utes he'll finally figure this problem out.

    @utefan4lyf

How does posting on an article have anything to do with sportsmanship? I understand you don't like to read the truthful things BYU fans are posting about utah but how does that make them poor sports?

Of course BYU fans have to read similar, and frankly worse, stuff from utah "fans" all of the time but I notice one big difference, very few BYU fans complain about it or suffer angst over it, but utah "fans" are so thin skinned, and so hypocritical, that they whine incessantly about having to do the same. That in and of itself is hilarious.
