And this is at RES??? Makes no sense to anybody except the UHSAA.
I second that. It makes no sense, for 2 southern teams to drive north to play. I
do however think that PV should drive up since JD has the better record. If it
was reversed I say JD should've driven down south to play at Dixie state,
but I'm just a fan. Good luck to all the teams that made it this far.
Regardless of what the fans or parents think, the players want to play at
Rice-Eccles. They have worked all season to play in that stadium and use that
experience as life long memories. If two STG teams make it to the championship
game and it's held in STG or SUU, it just wouldn't be the same for the
"players". Gas up the car and help make this memorable for these kids.
Dixie's players voted to stay down South, Desert Hills Administration
requested it to be down South. Dixie's staff and administration thought
Dixie would have a better chance to beat Desert Hills on the road. So when the two sides disagreed, there was no decision for the UHSAA because
both teams have to agreed to the change. Dixie did not. Please see the article
in the St. George newspaper (The Spectrum) yesterday. It was plain that this
was a Dixie Administration and Staff decision.Desert Hills travels
pretty good and they have been to the RES the past two years also. Look for a
good hard fought battle on both sides. These kids have been playing each other
since 5th grade and have a lot or pride and emotion in this game.
I agree with Ted. Growing up in California, I had the opportunity to play in
the CIF-SS Baseball Championship. The school we were playing was from our own
league, we tied for the league championship. Two schools withing 30 minutes of
each other, both having to travel over two hours to play the baseball
championship. We could have played at one of three universities and made travel
for friends and family so much better. But the opportunity to play at Dodger
Stadium was a life long memory I will never forget. I know it is not 4 plus
hours of travel, but for these kids to suit it up and bang heads at RES is
something they will never forget.I like the upset in this one.
Desert Hills 21 Dixie 17Good luck to all 3AA Schools, in my opinion
this is the best semi-finals of all of the brackets, I just think there is so
much parity with these four schools. Good luck to all and may the best teams
win. Flip a coin or make a guess. All four schools are great teams. Good
@TedCouldn't disagree more. You think kids would rather play in
front of 200 people in a near empty stadium or in front of thousands in a packed
house?! The crowd can help you gain momentum for sure. and neither team will be
used to the colder weather up there. I know that All the players voted to go up
there for a fact..it was in the spectrum so i dont know where you are getting
your info from? Mr. Bear, the AD at dixie wanted the kids the travel.
I'm ok with the move. My sophomore year I played for dixie and that was
the year of the Dixie/PV semifinal. That experience was awesome, but I felt
slightly cheated that we couldn't go to RES. Fortunately, we went my
senior year, and playing at RES was amazing (other than the outcome of the
game). Now the stadium at DSU fits even less people, so it would be less
exciting. I have no issue with keeping the game in SLC for the players.
I think Dixie wins this one and gives PV a rematch. Each year now Franke
announces he's got the best f something. Last year it was the best athlete
in the region and this year it's the best O line in the state. My
suggestion: let somebody else make those judgments and just draw up a better
game plan, so that you have a chance against a really good Dixie team whose
coach never oversells his product.
