I once worked in an office that everyone assumed was safe. A thief wandered in,
casually visited several empty offices, and found some car keys on a desk with
nobody around. He (or she) simply took the keys out to the parking lot and (we
surmise) walked around clicking the remote car door opener. The car unlocked
its doors with a beep and the thief knew which car it was and drove off. The
owner never saw it or his keys again. If I take my keys or cell phone
out of my pocket, I always stow them in the back of a drawer out of view.
I kinda think that a simple greeting [ Hi can I help you] would let that guy
know he'd better get out of Dodge.
