Go Wisconsin - Here's hoping Andersen get's to add another win over
BYU to his current count.
In general, the coaches have nowhere near the animosity towards each other as
some crazed, obsessed fans do. To them it's football, not a culture war.
In general, the coaches don't have the level of hostility or arrogance
towards each other that some rabid and obsessive fans have. To them, it's
football, not a culture war.
Chris,I agree that at times they are too fluffy with each other, but
what about this situation makes you think this isn't genuine? I don't
know about you, but if a guy gave me my first break that eventually led to a
7-figure salary, I'd be grateful. Believe it or not, not everyone that is
affiliated with the U hates BYU and vice versa. I would wager, in fact, that
the head coach of your beloved Utes doesn't actually hold any animosity
toward BYU, having played there and all. These guys all want to win, but they
don't necessarily take everything personally.
From what I've read and heard Bronco is well respected in the coaching
fraternity. His network includes other highly-respected coaches. I take this
article at face value. Coach Andersen seems generous and sincere in his
gratitude. But, I suppose you can inject ugly spin into about
anything depending on your agenda.Go Cougs, beat the Badgers!
Coach Wit is the best because he hates other coaches and that makes the Utes the
most awsome team.Go Utes!
Chris B....what a sad sad life you live.
OHBU,You're kidding yourself if you think Whittingham or Gary
Anderson think of Bronco as a good friend or anything similar. Whittingham and
Anderson think of each other as good friends, even when playing against each
other with Utah State and Utah. There is a reason Utes and aggies get
along and neither school likes byu.
Truer words were never penned than these when I think of how many times my
desire has been to read enlightening, informative, and even uplifting
comments:But instead we're stuck with this.I
believe coaches have potential to change lives for the better.Go Bronco!
Go Cougars! Go Coach Andersen...in every game except this Saturday.
Bronco and Gary Anderson text each other all the time and their relationship
improved dramatically as soon as he left the hate-fest on the hill. We'll see what the Aggies really think of the arrogant,
full-of-themselves Utes when Utah refuses to play the Aggies in Logan ever
I like how the author says "BYU CRUSHED the Aggies, 35-17, in 2009 (At BYU),
during Andersen's first season. The next year Utah State ended a 10-game
losing streak, winning 31-16 at home." Why didn't he say this instead
for the second sentence- "The next year Utah State ended a 10 game losing
streak by crushing BYU 31-16." Funny how the author chose crushed for BYU
but not USU even though the spread was bigger.
I love how an article about the Wisconsin and BYU coaches turns into commentary
about the bottom dwellers of the PAC-12.
Andersen is turning out to be the behind the scenes reason for the Utes winning
seasons... Witt is looking tired and lost without Andersen.Andersen
is a class act and deserves the Wisconsin gig. Good luck every game except this
Chris,First off, I never said they were good friends. But that
doesn't mean they dislike each other either. Bronco got this guy his first
college coaching job--an opportunity that has led Anderson to now make more than
a million per year. That's a huge opportunity. Why would he harbor any
ill feelings? The rivalry is mostly for the fans and young players.
For the coaches, it's part of their job, but they are professionals. Whit
ultimately decided to take the U's coaching job instead of coaching at the
Y, but that in no way indicates he hates BYU. As I said, he played football for
the Cougars and has only spoken positively about that experience. He still
maintains close ties with the other players on that team. Whit and Anderson are
surely closer because they coached together, but that doesn't mean they
dislike Bronco. The truth is, when these coaches talk about
respecting each other, that's probably closer to the truth than their
statements about the rivalry. Do you really think Urban Meyer gave a hoot about
BYU? He cared insofar as it mattered to keeping his job, that's it.
The relationships with the coach is nice and all, but I want a win for the Y.
Tylert73. Keep the music coming. I like your tune. JStevenH,I respect you a lot, but I thought you were a Y fan.......
35-18 is a 17 point spread.31-16 is a 15 point spread.I'm
not a math teacher, but I really don't get where you are claiming the USU
win was a bigger spread, RSLfanalways.I do see where you are coming
from, however, and examining both games shows that the losing team scored late
to make the game a closer contest than either really was. But be careful with
the facts in your arguments.
rslfa: do the math again...you're a little off.
I'm sure Anderson would say wonderful things about each of his opposing
coaches...thats the type of person he is. CB is not exactly a U fan, real U
fans know how fans behave...
I guess in Chrissy's pretend world people that hate each other text and
talk often with one another. In his/her world all these texts and calls are
filled with hatred and animosity. I suppose Bronco and GA as well as Chris
Petersen are conversing and laughing with each other before their games for show
for the fans?"LOL"!And don't kid yourself,
Chrissy. USU fans will respect BYU for playing them and not sticking their noses
in the air because of the patch on their sleeve. I don't see how any fan in
the state could respect Utah right now, except the ones living in the crimson
