Much love to the Asiata family. Tragic time for them all.

Hooray! I'm sure glad that excuse is now 'officially' over! We've been on needles and pins for over a week.

So if the Utes lose this weekend and this hand excuse comes up again...

Well, you know how the story goes.

Tragic circumstance for the Asiata family...Prayers.

Great news about Wilson. We need Westlee back asap and the RB's need to step it up a couple of notches. Go Utes.

Utah always has done great after a BYE week under Coach Witt. The state of Utah needs Arizona State to lose!!

    sammyg:
When has the hand been used as an excuse. Every interview I've seen has mentioned that Wilson's hand has been injured but both Whit and Wilson have said it was no excuse. Can't wait to watch a healthy Wilson step it up this week though.

    @40.cal

No, BYU needs Utah to beat Arizona State to help with the computer numbers. USU also needs the Utes to win for the same reason. Utah can lose to its heart's content the next two years because its performance will then have no bearing on USU or BYU.

The State of Utah is going to be VERY disappointed.

Utefan4lyf-- Perhaps they should have used it as an excuse to hold him out of games and let it heal. Should have learned from BYU playing Nelson last year with a broken back. Even a mediocre backup playing 100% is better than a starter at 60%.

    Gone fishin,

I've already heard one ute fan praying for a blizzard. LOL. Can't win on their own talent, have to hope for some type of equalizing storm to accommodate their inability to play.

    CB,
Stanford and BYU both considered the utes as easy wins so didn't bring their A games. The 4-4 records proves that out.

Remember how Utah had every chance to beat Arizona and USC this year?

Remember how Utah had every chance to beat a 1 and 10 Colorado team to go to the Pac 12 championship game?

Remember how Utah's only notable win for the last three years (until they got lucky that Stanford overlooked them) was their annual bowl game against BYU?

Remember how no one has Utah picked to go to a bowl game this year?

Remember how Utah didn't go to a bowl game last year?

Yeah...I remember. And so will ASU. they're motivated and will take an easy one from Utah.

@souptwins: I agree completely. Schultz was probably the better choice for the AZ and ASC games with Wilson injured. Giving him the majority of snaps those weeks would have been very beneficial. I'm not saying it guarantees wins, but they wouldn't have been worse.

Good luck to Utah this week. I think they have the talent to beat a very good Arizona State Team. Eliminate the turnovers and they have been in every game they played this year. Wilson is a good quarterback. He is a sophomore and still has some growing to do. I expect him to rebound from his interceptions. Utah is at home and their fans always give them a boost. I would not be surprised to see them win this game, but I imagine it will be close if they do because Arizona State appears to be very good.

@Chris B. I am still waiting to hear the BYU fight song on You Tube as you promised... Please let me know when you have it posted. :)

OK, Wilson and Hill are both sophomores, Let's look to see where each stands midway through the season. Wilson started out on fire and Hill started out very slow. Where are they now? Hall is 6th in the nation in total offense and Hill is....well we won't go to the bottom of the list but it is not good.
I love my independent membership and the chance to play on National TV every week.

So glad to hear Wilson's hand is healed. A healthy Travis gives Utah a fighting chance. So tired of ASU dominating Utah. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. Utah's defense has improved dramatically against read option QB's. Trevor Reilly is the key to that. No turnovers and move the ball Utah might have a chance.

Going to be a fun sunny day at RES! Can't Wait!

Excuse me if I am a little skeptical, but haven't we heard this "Wilson will be OK and 100%" before? Like against Arizona and USC? Personally I hope he is OK, but I'll believe it when I see it this time.

@ Gone fishin please tell us how great it is to lose to your rival four times in a row or nine of the last twelve and thirteen of the last twenty? Tell us how many of BCS caliber teams are coming into Provo to play? Tell us how many top 25 rated teams you are playing this year? Tell us how many automatic BCS level bowl game agreements you have in independence? Please tell everyone how happy you are watching mid major or below teams as the bulk of your schedule playing in Provo.

Utah on the other hand is playing eight BCS level teams every year, with at least four or five at home, along with five of this years group that have or are currently in the top 25. Oh and let's not forget your school's paycheck that next year will be half of what Utah is making.

    Still enjoy your independence?

Remember how Utah's only notable win for the last three years (until they got lucky that Stanford overlooked them) was their annual bowl game against BYU?

    -----------

And what's your annual bowl game? Arizona?

Utah finished 8-5 with a Sun Bowl win over Georgia Tech.

What did ASU did over the same period? A 8-5 season and a win in the Fight Hunger Bowl over Navy.

Biggest win? In 2011 when ASU (6-7) got lucky that USC (10-2) overlooked them.

If your going to talk about accomplishments shouldn't your team accomplish something first?

@Gone Fishin- Talk after the Wisconsin and Notre Dame game. Maybe Taysom has become better and Wilson has become worse.....or Utah has been playing top quality teams week in and week out while BYU are playing mediocre teams. Numbers always look great with a string of average or below average games at home. Let's see how they do after higher quality teams away from home.. then talk. Of course Wisconsin and Notre Dame are NOT as highly ranked as Arizona State nor even in the same ballpark as Oregon, but at least it will be closer to a fair comparison. I'm sure that if BYU and UTAH had played identical teams their records would be identical except that BYU would have one more loss.... to Utah

    Uteology

Most fans would prefer the Fight Hunger Bowl to the couch potato bowl, but maybe Utah fans are an exception.

It's laughable that you're trying to demean a team that has OWNED you forever - NINE straight wins, 18 of 24 overall, including two crushing defeats, 14-35 and 7-37, since Utah joined the PAC 12.

Utah has only beaten ONE PAC 12 team with a winning record in almost three full seasons.

ASU has beaten FIVE such PAC 12 teams in the last three seasons, including two this season - USC(10-2), Utah(8-5), Arizona(8-5), USC(6-3), and Washington(5-3).

Utah is WINLESS versus Arizona State since the Sun Devils joined the PAC 10 in 1978.

Remind us how many winning conference seasons the Utes have had since joining the conference.

btw, that 10-2 USC team that ASU dominated 43-22 in 2011...

finished 6th in the final AP poll.

Get over yourselves Utes; there's NOTHING special about U.

"Utah finished 8-5 with a Sun Bowl win over Georgia Tech."

...versus a team that finished 56th in Sagarin and lost to Virginia (a Cavs team that barely squeaked past Idaho 21-20 in OT).

    impressive

Trust Uteology to try to spin Utah's OT squeaker over #56 Georgia Tech as superior to ASU's dominating win over #6 USC.

Okay, fine. We'll do our best to listen to an out of stater, telling us that we need to get over ourselves.

Sounds like a certain Zoner needs to focus on how insignificant his sunny devils are, too. You won't find me trolling ASU comment boards about how Zoner fans need to get over themselves because there's nothing special about them. Although I will admit that their dazzling new jerseys have been something worth talking about!

    samurai

"Sounds like a certain Zoner needs to focus on how insignificant his sunny devils are, too."

The Sun Devils are leading the PAC 12 South and have the inside track to play in the PAC 12 championship game for a shot at a BCS game.

The Utes are 1-4 with absolutely no chance of playing in the PAC 12 championship game, and only a very slim chance of even qualifying for a bowl.

It's quite obvious which team is an insignificant pretender and which team is a legitimate contender.
