In a Republican state, we beg for money for our sick children. We ask for change
in grocery stores, we hold bake sales, we plead our case to this or that
overstretched foundation. Meanwhile, insurance executives live in super-mansions
and helicopter off to their private islands in the Caribbean (e.g., Mr. Hemsley
of United Healthcare). This story is shameful.
Irony guy: Let's use different words and see if it is more accurate. In
Utah we come together as a community to help a family in need with money.
People graciously give their change at grocery stores to help those in need.
Communities and schools come together in bake sales to raise money for a cause.
Doesn't sound as shameful in that light. Also, don't be jealous of
someone who works hard to earn money. It is not for you or me to say whether
they deserve it or not.
