Consulting Utah's Mike Lee might be the way to find an answer to these
monetary woes.He has some history in working with personal debt. He
may know someone who knows someone....
It's what we wanted. It's what we got. It's what we should give
our heads a shake for if we consider it again.
Someone should ask Obama why he told government employees to, "Make this
shut down as miserable as possible for Americans." Never mind, Obama would
just blame the GOP, again.
Ruby Inn lost $2 Million because of a 16-day shutdown? Wow...wonder what their
annual income is?
Thanks Mike Lee for costing UT taxpayers and businesses 30+ million dollars.
Keep up the self-destructive work.
The GOP needs to get back to its roots -- the party of business and opportunity.
Decisions need to focus on "how do actions impact the economic prosperity
of Americans?" -- not, what can we do to hurt Obama and ObamaCare to send
the nation's economy into a tailspin. The constant uncertainty that the
GOP brings the country is what really makes it hard for businesses to make
decisions.ObamaCare was passed in Congress. It was upheld in the
courts. It was re-affirmed with the re-election of Obama. It is time for the
GOP to move on to find its own landmark legislation to make a difference in the
lives of Americans and the nation's future. Businesses need to
know ObamaCare is "a go" so that they can make decisions. Businesses
shouldn't be worried about the next likely economic crises looming after
the first of the year that prevents them from hiring and investing. The GOP
should be the party of stability and predictability -- not a loose cannon that
hurts business and workers.Good luck!
Thanks to the mad hatters and Boeners power grabbing rule change, this is what
It's too bad the inaccurate narrative was so expertly spun by our own
Senator Hatch and many other opportunist politicians in DC. The reason that the
only sector of the economy that was much affected by the 10-day shutdown was
tourism is because tourism should never have been affected and so there
wasn't a way to provide for important contingencies like Congress did for
WIC, soldier pay, etc. The national parks haven't previously been treated
like lifeguarded beaches where nobody is allowed in if the paid lifeguard
isn't babysitting. That twist was made out of spite. And especially it
was crazy to *spend* money during a budget halt on buying and installing
barricades and harassing tourists with extra police. Senator Lee, to his
credit, pointed this out. But oddly - for this naieve Utahn at least -- even
local Utah media hardly gave that fact any notice (focusing instead on the
alleged dire [manufactured] emergency]. Most disappointingly, Senator Hatch
didn't say a word in disapproval. He showed *no* leadership, was
apparently complicit with the spiteful lawbreaking by the parks orders, and then
basked in undeserved accolades afterwards. It makes no sense at all!
This is impossible. The government doesn't create wealth or jobs. It cost
nothing Utah to shut down the government and not spend money.
Lee and Hatch.. Great pair. Too bad Hatch is retiring (finally). He would most
likely be reelected...AGAIN. Hopefully Americans will stop being so forgetful
come election time!
Any expense due to the Harry-Barry "shutdown" (slowdown) is pin money
compared to what it's going to cost us for the "Affordable" Care
Act. When this thing is done wreaking havoc on the country and it's
working/taxpaying citizens, we'll be lucky if we've even a shadow of
what we are today, let alone what we used to be. Interesting to note that the
"shutdown" signs were up overnight, and anyone who's ever dealt
with the Federal government knows it takes many weeks to get anything like these
signs manufactured. So, evidently it was pre-planned by those who hope to
profit from it most. And, since they have most of the media well-trained now,
Americans are still blaming "those darn Republicans" for the
A good reason to become as independent of the Federal Government as possible.
Let the states run the parks.
Baron Scarpia brought up business and so my comment goes along with it. Did you know that the CEO's of many insurance companies were summoned to
the White House for a meeting, they thought with the president to discuss the
problems with health care roll out? When they got there, they found that they
were meeting with Valerie Jarrett.
@MountanmanObama didn't tell anyone to make things worse. The parks
were shut down because Congress didn't authorize any spending on them.
That's what a shut down involves. What did you think shutting down the
We need a do no harm policy from our representatives. A pledge not to shut down
Let's get it right:the Obama directed shutdown,Obama and the democrats refused to compromise.Obama picked things
to shutdown, and directed federal employees to make painful things happen, to
cause the most pain on the American people.Obama is the most callous
president we have ever had.
Thanks for nothing Mike!
the Truth: I think they must just be listing to the msm and don't dig any
further.Of course the park service was told to make things hurt! The park
people have admitted it. So, it was OK to hurt our 2nd WW vets who had 1
chance to see the memorial and they had totake down the fence to get in.
Come if you haven't been there, it's open air - there are no gates,
nothing you have to go thru to get in, you just walk through it.What kind
of a president would make sure they couldn't get in?What kind of a
president would dishonor the men who are dying every day and may never get a
chance to see it?Any president who honors our men and women would be over
there tearing down the fence himself. Of course he ordered it. It took more
money to close it than it did to leave it as it was.
To the left wing, its time that Utah drop its dependence on federal aid and
become independent self sustaining industrious. The shutdown was a preplanned
event created by Obama as a tool to punish americans and blame the GOP for what
Obama did. It was an orchestrated national chaos by the Obama administration,
not our congressmen or senators. Obama had this orchestrated to discredit the
republicans and it seems the low information left wing puppets believed another
lie.I don't think tourist industry makes $30 million a year.
This article is including the $10+ million that Herbert gifted the interior
department to open the gates. With his contacts with the presidents office the
Governor should have contacted the president Obama to accept the terms and
conditions of the constitution budget and finance to avoid actions to punish us.
The Governor has to take all the credit for losses and incompetence. This is an exaggeration of lies and its an eye opener for these park counties
to get more demanding and invloved in the distribution of year round jobs and
business Herbert and UTA are earmarking to stay in northern counties.
Send the bill to Obama. He will be able to find 30 million dollars in the petty
cash drawer of our 17 trillion in borrowed money.
Oh bull. How did it cost them anything to merely go back to doing regular
Consider the comment, "peace at any price", which is spewed by the weak
and timid. Could the issue discussed here be considered under this comment?:
"profit at any cost"....? Those advocating Obamacare, and the timid way
rhinos both in office and out, are hiding behind it, have not realistically
considered the final cost of that, and every pocket will feel the pinch. Nor do
they understand what is the agenda behind it. Either $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ where
the powerful and wealthy in Utah get more power and wealth or
-$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ where the middle class disappears completely in Utah,
seems to drive low information votes and comments.
Ha! A drop in the bucket compared to what this bloated Federal government costs
us in unnecessary taxes. Mike Lee is one of the FEW people in Washington that
recognizes what this country is becoming and where it is going (in the dump!).
Just wait until "Obamacare" gets fully implemented (hopefully, it never
will).Mike Lee for President!
Baron Scarpia; it is a go, and now there is almost nothing like full time
employement, because companies can't afford the ACA mandate for healthcare
for full time employees. they then hire only part time. sounds like this is
either what the administration had in mind, or they were completely clueless.
well they passed it, and now we're finding out what's in it.
Halloween is next week, so why not visit Goblin Valley State Park in UT. The
landscape is said to be surreal.
