Swallow is selfish and self-deceived by nature. He is willing to drag the AG
office's reputation and the state's time and resources through a
lengthy process so that he can keep his power. He wants to keep making deals
and keep one step ahead of his half truths.
So far, the federal government and the state bar association have conducted
thorough investigation and found no conduct warranting even an attempt at
prosecution. However, Swallow's name and reputation have been
permanently destroyed by endless media repetition of (so far) baseless
allegations from a convicted felon seeking to cut a deal on his sentence, and
from the head of Utah's Democrats seeking free publicity for his party and
to defame all Republicans with a broad brush.I look forward to any
Democrat winning a statewide office, and hope that Republicans have a long
memory and will be unafraid to use the same political strategies to point out
even the slightest hint of impropriety by a Democrat. Swallow's detractors need to be investigated with the same zeal as he has
I am not surprised that the Utah Bar dropped its case against John Swallow and
that the federal government has refused to indict. John is an honorable person,
and I feel bad for he and his family considering the trashing he has received
the past few months.
I'm not qualified nor am I privy to enough of the evidence to proclaim
Swallow's guilt or innocence. I do know, however, that he showed
incredibly bad judgement in his meetings, dealings and associations with those
of questionable character. To call this a witch hunt is an
overstatement as this whole situation would likely never have gotten this far
had he been more disciplined in his behavior.
Ms Mardindale, We have a system of convicting someone on substantial facts, not
what the public views in the media witch hunt says on John Swallow. He is a
good, honorable man and will be found not guilty.
Good to see the "Good ole Boys" are still in control!
The lawyers have decided to let their fellow lawyer off the hook. Imagine that.
When a person such as AG Swallow is in his position, title, authority and
experience as an Attorney and State Legislator and ran for the Congress, he
knows what the rules and regulations are for dealing with people of all
categories. He has sworn publicly and with the Bar that he will act ethically
and with integrity in his dealings with the public and his clients. He knows
the rules and regulations relating to fiduciary responsibility within his
offices he has held and as an attorney. Sometimes people know and
are experts in the law to get around the law and have just their integrity and
honesty to deal with that may not be against the law. The appearance of evil
with a person in public office takes away their efficacy as a law enforcer and
pushing for making new laws. He has a higher law to maintain as
then Chief Deputy Attorney General when he made many of his bad decisions. He
made accusations against his opponent for Attorney General on his youth and lack
of experience. Lack of experience, does that mean how to get around the law or
have the secret brotherhood to back you?
I sure hope that when this is all over, those that are guilty are prosecuted. If
there are those that are bringing false accusations they need to be sued and
charged also.Creating and forcing a witch hunt for political
purposes is an evil we as citizens must never allow. Anyone who lies, especially
for political gain must be voted out.How can we trust someone with
the use of our tax dollars wisely, if they are liars and thieves? This applies to our highest offices.
It seems to me that we should be a little suspicious when a criminal accuses
someone else! Criminals are really not too trustworthy, are they?
BYU Alum,DN Subscriber2 and other posters are intelligent enough to get that
this is a Democrat Party and media driven witch hunt. Spencer Cox along with Ms
Martindale are seeing potential political points by brutally attacking Swallow
for all their bluster there is another side which the media does its best to
ignore. Martindale's group was accurately portrayed by the Daily Herald as
a left leaning group. My opinion is that it is a farleft group and likely funded
by George Soros. I've lived in liberal locations and these groups pound the
delights out of conservative candidates or office holders trying to take them
down. This was a somewhat slanted article but the responses are beginning to show
that citizens are beginning to stand up and say enough.
