Utah is the one and only premier program in the state. And YES,
having better(higher star) players than we have had previously helped us get
this win. Some teams think they are headed to a national title with
1-2 star nobodies, even though USC, Florida, lsu, Alabama all had high star
recruiting classes. I LOVE my bcs membership! It's
better being better.
Stanford will likely end the season in the top 10Has byu or usu done
that recently?Second time in last 5 years for us
Head to head four years in a row: UtahBest win: UtahToughest
schedule: UtahWorst loss: byuHigher ranking after they are released:
UtahCan't wait for the spin from Provo about byU being better
Let me say this in advance:Lol!
Things I said since offseason:Utah would beat byu for fourth time in
a rowUtah would beat usuUtah would split Stanford and Oregon Utah would go 8-4This program will be a force in the prestigious
PAC 12Like I said. It took a few years for recruiting to
improve and YES we are getting much better(higher STARS) than we did in our Mwc
days. That's only going to continue! The future of
football in Utah, Is Utah!
Head to head recruiting last four years more recruits have picked Utah over byu,
with many saying the many benefits if the PAC 12 being a big reason This certainly won't do anything to change that trend!
Anybody else automatically scroll down the first four or five comments on almost
any article because they know they've likely read that comment dozens of
I swear some of these comments by so-called Ute "fans" are so inane that
they must be made by fans of another school posing as Utes. If not, guys,
it's time to grow up. BYU is in the rearview. They aren't the
measuring stick anymore. Watching these interviews, I was impressed
by the Stanford players' class--saying they knew what they were in for with
Utah, not making any excuses, saying that Utah just beat them. This is a
quality, class opponent all the way. Stanford and other such programs are what
Utah is measured against now and where the team's and the fans' focus
should be. This was a great game. I hope the team has finally turned the corner
after being oh so close the first two Pac12 games of the season.
UteExpat, I completely agree with you on the class of the Cardinal. Very
impressive, and indicative of a team that has earned all the recognition they
get. I was also very impressed with the same thing with Oregon State's
coach Mike Riley, UCLA's coach Jim Mora, Brett Hundley, and BYU's
offensive coordinator Robert Anae this year. It shows a lot of class and is
refreshing compared to some of the "better team didn't win" sour
grapes and officiating complaints heard in the state in the last few years, or
the accusations of injury faking last week.
StGSLC:"Anybody else automatically scroll down the first four or five
comments on almost any article because they know they've likely read that
comment dozens of times already?"Haha...it's especially sad
when the comments are made by one person with 3-4 different names. Anyone know a
good psychiatrist for our little friend?UteExpat:"BYU is
in the rearview. They aren't the measuring stick anymore".Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm a BYU fan, and Utah's
in our rearview mirror as well. BYU needs to forget about Utah and what
they're doing because it means nothing to us BYU fans anymore. We need big
wins over big programs and secure our place in CFB, and Utah does nothing for us
in that process. Time for both programs' fans to wish each other luck and
move on. So good luck Utes, hope U have much success in the PAC.
Huge win for the Utes!!! Just remember both Utah and BYU have the same record
and both lost to BCS schools!!! We will see how both teams use there new found
confidence moving forward!!! Both teams are in a much better situation then
being in the MWC!!! Congrats again to Utah now move Onward and Upward and show
it was not a fluke win in your conference!!!Go Cougs!!!
UteExpat"I swear some of these comments by so-called Ute
"fans" are so inane that they must be made by fans of another school
posing as Utes."You would think so, but unfortunately for U,
most of these comments were made by the same BYU-obsessed Utah fan.Congratulations to the Utes on finally getting a decent win in the PAC 12.
Stanford obviously isn't a Top 5 or even a Top 10 team, but the Cardinal
are a very good team.
BYU fans can celebrate two wins yesterday. A good win by the cougars over
Georgia Tech and Utah's win over Stanford. For over two years now many BYU
fans have expressed their opinion about Utah being in the PAC-12 (Or according
to many Y fans the PAC 10.2 etc) and that Utah could not beat a PAC-12 team with
a winning record or only beat the bottom dwellers of the PAC-12 etc. As they
said this they were also saying that same team has beaten the Y every year since
the Utes joined the PAC-12. So by implication they were admitting that no
matter how they minimized the Utes performance theirs would have been worse. No
longer. Now the Y fans can say the Utah team that beat them this year was a
team that beat the number 5 ranked team in the nation. So much more impressive
for the Y fans.
Troy Town / Cougardawgs, et.al.I would like to point out that
Christopher B (and all his other aliases) is not a Utah fan, he's simply a
BYU-hater. He exposed himself for the fraud that he is last March when he said
he wouldn't cheer for the U women when they played in the WNIT Championship
game. A true fan of any school cheers for their teams under any circumstances.
Please ignore him and please don't feed him. He doesn't
deserve attention, but he probably could get a group discount on psychiatric
counseling, as Cougardawgs points out.Congratulations to both Utah
and BYU on their wins yesterday. Stellar wins for both programs.I
agree it's time for both fan-bases to move on. BYU is not Utah's
measuring stick, nor is Utah BYU's measuring stick any more.
@who are youI think it was a great win by utah but you cannot have
the double standard. When BYU beat 3rd ranked oklahoma utah "fans" were
there to tell us that oklahoma was not the 3rd ranked team because they lost to
BYU. When BYU beat top 15 texas utah "fans" were here telling us that
texas was obviously not a top 15 team since they lost to BYU.OK, so
that means stanford is obviously not a top 5 team since they lost to an unranked
utah team. You did not beat the 5th best team in the country, you beat something
less, utah "fans" have set the stnadard for such appraisals so utah
"fans" now must live with it as well. stnaford is not a top 5 team, they
something less, just the way it is.
@duckhunterYour theory falls short because you fail to realize that when
Stanford beats UCLA next week they will be right back in the top 10, nice try
@duckyTime is the test. As I remember the Oklahoma win was after
their all American quarterback was "knocked" out of the game and refresh
my memory on how they finished the year. Texas - was preseason picked fourth (I
believe) in the Big 12 and was defeated in the next game after the Y loss.
Because this was Stanford's 6th loss in the past 4 years let's see how
they finish the season. (I'm betting this was a BIG win by Utah) Speaking
of how a team does both before and after a win how did Alabama do after their
defeat to the Utes in the Sugar Bowl? Now that was a BIG win!PS. Hope
you were as impressed as most were at the grace Stanford displayed past game!
@Ducky..."When BYU beat 3rd ranked oklahoma utah "fans" were there
to tell us that oklahoma was not the 3rd ranked team because they lost to BYU.
When BYU beat top 15 texas utah "fans" were here telling us that texas
was obviously not a top 15 team since they lost to BYU."I love
it the 4 straight losses 9 of 12 and now a win over a top 5 team is driving you
crazy isn't it? Ducky nice try on this spin though everybody knows that
bradford was knocked out of the game just as chuckie was against Utah st. this
year. I would be willing to put a friendly wager on it that Stanford finishes
the season in or near the top 10 vs that Oklahoma team and this years Texas team
outside the top 25.
Very well said 2BCSWINS. Dennis Erickson is fantastic! I am so
glad to have him tutoring BJ. This game was a huge shot in the arm for a team
that hadn't given up. I am so excited to see them keep progressing.
Stanford, and the PAC 12 are grossly over rated. That's why the
only legitimate team (Oregon), so easily, crushes the others. Put them in the
MWC and see what happens. This won't be Stanford's only
As expected from utah "fans" pure hypocrisy. Exposed.LOL!
@ 2 BCS winsNo one knows where Oklahoma would have been had Sam Bradford
not been hurt.No one knows where Texas or Stanford will end up this
year.(Texas just destroyed #12 Oklahoma)No one knows how Utah and
BYU will play on the road the next 2 months.Bottom line is this season is
far from over Utah could be top 15 or Not ranked (or bowl eligible)BYU
could be top 20 or not ranked (or bowl eligible)Bowls are likely for
both.Bottom Line. The season is 1/2 done as in 6 of 12 regular season
games. Both have 4 of 6 games on the road.Good luck to both teams.
Utah would have lost had Hill stayed.
To those chirping about Texas' victory over Oklahoma:Had Iowa
State won the game they had taken away on a fumble-recovery non-call, the Red
River shootout would have been vastly different without Mack Brown on the
sidelines. The players knew they had to fight for his job, and their
effort as opposed to the BYU game was night and day. That same urgency against
BYU likely would have resulted in a completely different ball game. As a Ute
fan, even I would have enjoyed watching a more closely contested ballgame in
happy valley. Too bad Texas didn't take BYU seriously.
