People are free to make choices. You can't take that away and you
can't change people gravitating toward the path of least resistance unless
there is a grim reaper standing over them. The moral to improve
health is a good one but when that moral throws out the moral to work hard and
earn your keep and pay for what you use, and in turn it forces others to pay for
it, you lose the moral authority to enforce said moral. Being moral involves
people making free choices to do whats right and not have the heavy hand of the
government step in. Now onto the ACA. It was done with the thought
of helping those who lacked the ability to afford or even have insurance. This
is praise worthy, But it uses the same model that was failing prior to the ACA.
Additionally it was passed through congress by hook and crook as it disregarded
normal congressional order or real bipartisanship. The best idea right now is
to scrap the law and have both sides of the political spectrum sit down and hash
out a real plan, otherwise we postpone real leadership standing up.
No, John, what America needs are leaders who treasure freedom and respect the
Constitution. The ACA (Obamacare) is a serious assault on both.
I agree with the article. It reflects the needs of our society and the will of
the people. To "The Hammer""The best idea
right now is to scrap the law and have both sides of the political spectrum sit
down and hash out a real plan, otherwise we postpone real leadership standing
up." Only a small minority believe in repealing the AFA. The
vast majority reflect the sentiments of Lindsey Graham, rep. senator from South
Carolina, who recently said that it is now time to work together to make the AFA
Employers should have nothing to do with health care. It's a bizarre
concept. Health care is a basic human need, and a single payer system is the
most moral and cost effective way to provide it. It doesn't take away your
desire to work or get ahead in life but rather enhances it because it opens up
so many options for workers and gets a monkey off the back of employers.
I totally disagree with Mr. Florez's contention that the Federal Government
has the responsibility to see that our noses are wiped. There is nothing in the
Constitution that allows the Federal Government to handle that responsibility.
The 10th Amendment clearly states that all duties not enumerated in the
Constitution are to be left to other levels of government or to the
individual. The Supreme Court ruled that ObamaCare is a tax and that
Congress has the authority to tax us, but the Supreme Court has NOT ruled on
whether the ObamaCare tax is constitutional. That tax was not in force at the
time that the ruling was made; therefore, no damages could be shown, so that
issue will be visited at a later date.If the Federal Government can
force us to wipe our noses when they tell us to wipe our noses, then that level
of government also has the authority to tell us that we must abort unborn babies
and end the life of those who are no longer "assets" to society.
It's all a matter of degree. Foolish people license government
to exceed its authority for "the common good".
Mr. Florez, unfortunately, you couldn't be more wrong. The
'do-gooders' are always out pretending to 'care' for people
by giving them something at the expense of someone else. Commpulsion does not
make a more moral or caring nation. It doesn't even do any good for the
'general welfare' as he proposes. Compulsion is evil and anytime
someone gives someone else the right to get something by compulsion, such as
government power,it makes that government more evil, not less. What we need is
a more virtuous and God fearing nation, not a more immoral and government
fearing nation. Without virtue and obedience to God, no government policy will
do anything except put its citizens in chains. Greed, corruption, evil
don't go away just because government seizes more power. It just makes
greed, corruption, and evil more accessible to those in power. Free market
capitalism, something we lost almost a century ago, would raise the boats of
everyone and give everyone the dignity that comes with liberty and freedom. The
'do-gooders' can't see this no matter how telling the facts are
about government power.
I agree with this article!
The ACA was forced upon U.S. and it is not the way things should have been done.
The ACA is a train wreck happening and the taxpayers are going to feel it like
never before. In fact, a few people I know of can no longer afford their
healthcare through the ACA because the rate almost doubled for them and their
families. Is it right to make a family member lose their job in order to afford
healthcare? No! This whole operation is beyond stupid and is tearing this nation
down - not building it up.
