    I think we have a great chance. Considering with 6 picks we took an undefeated top 10 team down to the last play gives me a ton of home. If Wilson only throws 2 picks in that game we dominate UCLA by 14+.

    If we win, and I think we will, it will be the best win in the state of Utah by any team of the last 20 years. Just another sign of our superiority over the WAC programs here.

    Utah 32
    Stanford 27

    Go Utes

    Onward and Upward

    "I think Stanford ultimately likes this matchup because Utah's pass defense is nowhere near Washington's caliber. The Cardinal defense is licking its chops after seeing Travis Wilson throw six interceptions in his last outing"

    Pretty much sums it up. The rest is just being cordial to a pesky little brother.

    On Monday, Utah will still be waiting for its first signature win in its new conference.

    @Alterego

    On Monday, BYU will still be waiting for its first signature win in the BCS era.

    If Utah wins the TO margin then we win 30-28 on a last second field goal and the MUSS rushes the field 30 seconds later.

    Go UTES!

    It's laughable that you have to resort to "first signature win in the BCS era", since U have no signature wins in the PAC, in fact, U haven't beaten a single PAC team with a winning record.

    --------------

    Neither does your team. So why are you taking jabs at Utah?

    It's laughable that THE "fan" from the team down south is talking about signature wins considering under the current system his team has no undefeated seasons, no BCS bowls, and more importantly no BCS bowl wins (aka signature wins).

    "What have you done?"

    Stomped Texas

    Finished in the Top 25

    Won two bowl games

    Beat #16/#17 Utah State

    @uteology

    Shall I pretend I'm a utah "fan" and make one of your "points"?

    Ok here goes, if utah wins then all it does is prove stanford was horribly over rated, not even a true top 25 team let alone a top 5 team, and fielding their worst team in the last 5 years. If stanford loses to a team as bad as utah, and make no mistake they are really bad having never beaten a team with a winning record, nor having ever posted a winning conference record, in the pac12, then it absolutely proves stanford, and the entire pac12, is ridiculously over rated for a bottom feeding never been like utah to actually beat one of its "top" teams.

    Simply put, a utah win only proves the mediocrity of the stanford program, not any sort of improvement, or quality, of the utah program.

    There you go, utah "fan" logic at its finest.

    LOL!

    It's laughable that you continue resorting to an artificial time period during which all football achievements must have been accomplished in order to be considered valid by the kids living under the crimson bubble on the hill.

    Call us when Utah has accomplished these signature achievements:

    1 National Championship (currently 0)
    1 Heisman Trophy winner (currently 0)
    6 National Hall of Fame Players (currently 0)
    15 National Individual Awards (currently 0)
    17 AP Top 25 Finishes (currently 5)

    The truth is, the Utes have never received a single NATIONAL individual or team award of any kind.

    Your best achievement EVER, was a distant 2nd place finish in ONE poll not even associated with your beloved bcs.

    Stanford cannot touch us because we won byu and won the utah aggies and won weber and that means they are now scared of us because we have 3 signature wins.

    It is curious the hate between the fans. I wish that Dr. Hill and Mr Holmoe would reconsider the future games. I think that the 2 year hiatus will do nothing but foment the negative emotions.

    @Rockwell
    That list is ancient history, what have you done for me lately?

    The giddiness from BYU "fans" is palpable. They're almost as excited as we are to be hosting #5 Stanford!

    For those hoping for a bowl rematch, be careful what you wish for. Losing to the Utes twice in one season would be too much for True Blue faithful to handle.

    On second thought, 5-0 would be twice as nice!

    Go Utes!

    @Rockwell

    So the highest ranked mid-major under BCS rules with 16 first place votes isn't good enough for Cougar Nation?

    Under the same rules the closest mid-major was the 2010 TCU team which finished #2 with 2 AP first place votes. The same TCU program that went 47-5 in the MWC. How do you under the same rules?

    You are right Utah was a bad team during Edwards era. BYU OWENED Utah. How's that working out today?

    BYU might want to focus on the current era, here is what you may want to concentrate on doing first:

    * How about beating Utah this decade
    * Or try staying within two scores of TCU

    I'll ask you the same question? utah is half a decade removed from ANYTHING noteworthy and is now a losing bowless team.

    Ancient history is MUCH better than NO history.

    Lately, during the Bronco/Kyle era:

    Top 25 Finishes
    Bronco 5
    Kyle 3

    AP Top 25 Finishes
    Bronco 4
    Kyle 2

    Top 15 Finishes
    Bronco 3
    Kyle 1

    Conference Championships
    Bronco 2
    Kyle 1

    Bronco has almost as many AP Top 25 Finishes since 2006 (FOUR), as the Utes have in their entire history (FIVE), and twice as many as Kyle.

    For all your talk, lately, the Utes have ONE flash-in-the-pan great season, and NOTHING else.

    Bronco has THREE very good 11-win, Top 15 seasons.

    In fact, Bronco has more 11-win seasons (THREE), than the Utes have in their entire history (TWO).

    Luke Staley won the Doak Walker Award (Nation's Best Running Back) in 2001. Once again, BYU has won more National Individual awards during the "bcs era", than the Utes have won in their entire history.

    btw, there's no national team or individual award given for winning a bcs game.

    No more so than the giddiness displayed by Utah "fans" when Texas visited LES.

    Unfortunately, the final result will be much different for U.

    Levell Edwards called... wants to know what his accomplishments has anything to do BYU football today? Since those type of players no longer exist at BYU.

    He also said Tysom Hill wouldn't even have made the practice squad on this team.

    No negativity here...

    4 in a row baby!

    I think the Duck was kinda funny tonight.

    Under what rules?

    The exact same rules that existed when BYU won the AP national championship in 1984 existed when Utah finished a distant 2nd in 2008.

    Face it; Utah's best team ever wasn't good enough to match BYU's #1 finish in 1984.

    btw, that same 2008 Utah team only finished #4 in the official BCS poll, the Coaches poll; barely ahead of BYU's 1996 Cotton Bowl winning team that finished #5.

    @Snack PAC:

    You're right. The final result will be different. Whether the Utes win or lose, Stanford will still be ranked, unlike the Longhorns who will not sniff the top 25 this season. Good call.

    Texas is currently pounding 10th ranked oklahoma, you may want to stay tuned to see if your pronouncement is correct.

  • Samurai Jake Salt Lake City, UT
    Oct. 14, 2013 12:35 p.m.

    @Duckhunter:

    You were right. Texas destroyed Oklahoma. Which begs the question: did the Longhorns look past YbU? The urgency they played with against the Sooners, was non-existent in their contest in Provo.

    You could try and make the same argument against Stanford. But we all know they weren't looking past the Utes, based on Utah's down-to-the-wire battles with the Beavs and the Bruins.

    I think even Oregon will have to pay closer attention to the Utes at this point! Go Utes!
