Ms. Risman sounds like a very good woman and her work against pornography should
be supported and commended. However, we as a nation could have nearly eliminated
pornography if it wasn't for Eric Holder and the Obama Justice Department.
Current laws exist that would put these companies that produce this smut out of
existence. There are only a few companies that would need to be targeted to do
so, less than half a dozen. However, Barack Obama's Justice Department
pulled every prosecutor out that was working on cases against pornography and
assigned them elsewhere. In other words, no one from the Department of Justice
is bringing these smut producers to court even though it is well known they are
breaking the law. The result of their inaction is an encouragement to smut
producers to produce their product with no fear of prosecution. Perhaps the
focus should be toward the Obama administration rather than those who make this
smut as to who to blame for an explosion of pornography in our society.
I don't understand why whatever is wrong in our country that some people
blame Obama and his administration. It's like they live in a bubble of
righteousness and refuse to look at the facts.
What are the facts please?
I commend this woman for her efforts. I also wish there could be more education
on the dangers of pornography and I wish this education would come from secular
sources as well (like the "your brain on porn" website. That said,
ten years ago, I read a letter to this publication that accused the show
"Desperate Housewives" of being pornography. People like this are a big
part of the problem. I support penalizing businesses that are actually BREAKING
THE LAW (and not just offending), and I'm quite sure that president Obama
does as well. But I don't want to empower people who would go overboard
censoring everything and anything they personally disagree agree with. All we can do is educate people on the damages of pornography. Unfortunately,
it is something that people very much want and Utah is no exception, being the
largest consumer in the USA. It can be hard for liberals, at times, to see past
the damage done when religious leaders seek to control others through sexuality
or berate people for normal sexual behaviors. Pornography is generally NOT a
healthy part of sexuality. But not everything that is sexual is pornography
@ PostalAbsolutely. Couldn't agree with you more. We should all do
that. Facts, not spin. The Obama administration DID chose to stop
pursuing pornography cases. That is a fact.
