Smart and intelligent man.
The media is not out of touch when it comes to imaginary characters. There was a
story last week here about bigfoot.
I believe that Justice Scalia is spot on with his comments. The master deceiver
seems to be raging throughout the Earth.C.S. Lewis made a profound
observation in the Screwtape Letters. He wrote, "There are two equal and
opposite errors into which our race can fall about devils. One is to disbelieve
in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and
unhealthy interest in them. The devils themselves are equally pleased by both
errors, and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight."
To: Hutterite, American Fork, UT and Red Corvette, SACRAMENTO, CA - you both
seem to be intelligent individuals. Do you really want to take that bet that the
devil does not exist? Just asking.
"Do you really want to take that bet that the devil does not exist? Just
asking."And what difference does it make either way? And,
whatever your response is, support it with something. Is the
"devil" responsible for all the "bad" things that people do?
Some of the bad things? How can you tell if the devil is responsible, or
the person is just a bad person. When people do bad things, can they
forgo responsibility because "the devil made them do it"?What I see is thisGood things happen and bad things happen. People do
good things and people do bad things.Bad things happen to good
people and good things happen to bad people. And it looks to me they happen at
roughly the same pace.Maybe the devil is just YOUR conscious. Take
some personal responsibility and quit blaming the devil for your bad choices.
Belief is such a precious thing, it is wise not to give it to anything unworthy
- such as wasting it on Santa, fairies, angels or devils, or the like.
“He who sups with the devil should have a long spoon.”2
Corinthians 11:13-14,”For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers,
disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. No wonder, for even Satan disguises
himself as an angel of light.”In Mt 6:13 NIV, The correct
translation is “deliver us from the evil one”(Satan). In
3Nephi 13:12, (Jesus)“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from
evil”. Did Jesus(A.D 34) teach the Nephites an abstract prayer?
Red CorvetteI agree. If the Devil "made" anyone do
something evil, then that individule could not be held accountable for their
sins. I do however believe that there is such extreme evil in this world that
there is a force influencing it. Maybe the saying should go, "The Devil
asked me to do it."
Stand up for what you believe. Thank you
Believe in things that are worth standing up for.Such as truth and
reality rather than fairy tales. You're welcome.
@JoeBlow, @Red CorvetteIt is true, the devil can not make you do
anything. He can tempt us though.
