This was a very good talk. I thought Elder Christofferson did a very good job at
pointing out what needs to be done. I half wish he would have followed up more
on the quote from Elder Maxwell about the importance of the peace-making
capacity of women. Studies done by a group of largely LDS women sociologists,
largely based at BYU, have shown a clear link between the way a society treats
women and the level of violence in that society.We need to value
women and their imput more. Some talk about things like giving women more roles
in action films. But if we just bring in the women and have them fight just as
much as men are we really moving forward. Maybe the inate problem is we value
too much the quick, the flashy and the violent.
The Associated Press is quoting Christofferson as follows on the Ordain
Women's movement:"We have enough women of fame and fortune;
we need more women of faith."My question is, how is the desire
for ordaining of women into the priesthood somehow mutually exclusive of faith?
Why wasn't this included in the Des News?
"My question is, how is the desire for ordaining of women into the
priesthood somehow mutually exclusive of faith?"The movement for
ordaining women is a minority group. Even so, it does not necessarily mean the
do not have faith.
