Seriously? In this sterilised society? These days halloween is all indoors and
organised and supervised. I don't know what it's supposed to be about
these days, but fear has nothing to do with it.
I absolutely agree that children are exposed to too much violence and too many
culturally-approved portrayals of evil at Halloween; it is a holiday has a
history of terror that is very real. I am promoting a book for Halloween that
gives parents, teachers and everyone who loves autumn celebrations alternative
ideas. Look back at Israel's fall holiday, Sukkot or The Feast of the
Tabernacles, and see hospitality, gratitude, fun, games and enjoyment.
There's no need to invite the devil into your home because it's
Halloween when there is a plethora of fun ideas for a humane and happy
