Natalie Gochnour: Pope's words worth pondering this weekend

    I am also impressed by this religious leader, who speaks from the heart. However, I notice that this article contained the word "Christ" only once, and that was in the name of the Lord's true church.

    I'm sure that the pontiff speaks of the Savior frequently, but unfortunately these are not the comments that attract the public's attention. What the world needs now is a renewed witness of our Redeemer and His atonement. That's what we will hear in abundance this weekend in General Conference.

    The popes' words resonate every day. This weekend is just a couple days we don't have to work, and the football and hockey seasons are pretty inconsequential at this point.

    Not every sermon needs to be about Christ. In many sermons, Christ is obviously implied without the need to mention His name.

    And the LDS church is not considered by the majority of the world to be "the Lord's true church."
