More guards are blocking the WW2 vets today from visiting the Memorials to honor
them than were at Benghazi!
How many Uerkle looking guards does it take to block 80 year old men from
visiting national memorials? One!
Of course this huts business! All you anti-government Utahns: who did
you vote for, and why? Or, do you just automatically push "straight
party (R)" and run out the door? You want to privatize our
national parks and public lands? That will cost Utah more jobs in the
tourism industry, than is imaginable.
There is more guards keeping people out of any one park trying to score
political points for Obama than there were guards in Benghazi!
Thanks Mike Lee! Thanks for holding our economy hostage because your political
party can't seem to get enough people elected to actually do what you want
through proper legislative processes.Instead you try to slip your
agenda in the back door while holding the entire government hostage. Maybe if
Republicans would stop letting the extremists hijack their party they could
actually get enough people elected to repeal Obamacare without playing chicken
with our economy.
Deseret News, you have published articles in the past about places to go for
Spring/Fall break. Could you please publish one or more articles within the
next few days telling us some of the major attractions (especially hikes to see
beautiful areas - what many of us would be doing inside the national parks were
they open) that would be open while the government is shut down and we
can't go to National Parks. Especially things in the popular areas such as
around Moab, Torrey, Springdale, and other spots of interest. It would be
We were in Zion National Park on Monday hiking West Rim to the Grotto parking
area and trail head for Angel's landing for 3 days. The hike was beautiful
for the 3 days but was definitely absent people and a way to get from the Grotto
parking area to the Zion Visitor's Center to pick up our car at the end of
the hike, which is over 9 miles away. The Park only had security around. The
bathrooms at the Grotto area along with all trail head and Visitor's Center
were locked up which would have been nice after 3 days on the trail to have
access to. The 100s of cars we saw with tourists were roaming along highway 9
to find a spot to even take pictures but all pull offs were cordoned or blocked
off so the poor tourists couldn't even take pictures of anything. The road
to the lodge was even blocked off and patrolled by the Park Security personnel.
One worker at the park told me it would be a $700 fine if she tried to take a
hike during the shutdown. Usually, there are 100s at Angel's landing.
Get the Parks out of Interior Department Control. If they were in Trusts they
would be self supporting and the money they generate would go back into the
Parks not to Washington Bureaucrat salaries.
Maybe Utah should exert some Pressure on Harry Reid to consider the bills just
passed by the House which would restore funding to the NIH, National Parks,
Veterans and D.C. It's his stubbornness which is preventing the
resumption of services at these locations.
Reasonable personRepubs voted to open the national parks, dems voted
against opening the national parks, and the votes had NOTHING to do with
obamacare. The real party of NO!!! does not want the government openandyjaggy,The repubs have passed at least 4 bills intended to keep the
government open, the dem senate won't touch them and BO has promised to
veto them. It is harry and BO who are holding the economy hostage. BO's
own spokesman even admitted it.White House press secretary Jay
Carney said sharply that Obama "will not offer concessions to Republicans in
exchange for not tanking the economy."Conservative scientist,There are many beautiful state parks still open. Snow Canyon, Kodachrome
(sp??) Basin, Deadhorse Point, just to name a few.
The veterans at the memorial will prove to be a preset up publicity stunt. LEe
and his supporters want to stop a future a purported future train wreck by
blowing up bridges in front of the lawful train. His analogy. He also referred
to not holding some programs hostage, admitting he is holding other hostages.
one votewI guess you did not read the story - typicalthe vets
had planned this trip loooooooong in advance.the repubs aren't
as adept at political stunts and chicanery as are the dems - they wouldn't
have been able to organize this as a "publicity stunt"
