"Michael Malone...has made solid defensive play the team's top priority."

Enough said. Fredette, some of your fans can look forward to seeing you playing in Europe.

Here's a U fan hoping Jimmer, Davies, Andre, and Andrew all do well this year.

    Y-Ask-Y?

Another sad, jealous comment from a BYU hater.

I wish him well, but Jimmer is all but gone from that team.

Here's hoping he hooks up with an NBA team that can utilize him in the right way. It's unfortunate (for him) that the Sacramento Kings drafted him in the first place.

I agree with rval2. Too bad Jimmer got drafted by such a bad team. He is a great player and has been very patient waiting for his chance. I admire him greatly! One more year on his contract, and he can choose his team. Why would any team draft and keep that many guards? Such a waste of talent!

    Go Jimmer! We love you!

With all those guards, why in the heck didn't they trade him? It makes no sense at all!
    Free Jimmer!

    @idablu

    Why not traded?

Jimmer has no NBA value... simple.

The Kings are maybe the worst managed team in the league. They have about 10 guards on the roster it seems. They are on their third coach in as many years......add in all of the talk of selling to Seattle........poorly managed. I would much rather see Jimmer play somewhere else in the NBA.

    Howard @. - what's the matter, jealous?

Hope Jimmer get traded to the right nba team soon. Good luck with Sacramento if they will let you play.

Maybe the article should say Jimmer is looking for ROLL. Sweet roll, dinner roll...

That's more likely than a role as in playing role...

@BYUalum if Jimmer was such a great player he would be PLAYING. Unlike certain Federal Gov't jobs, the NBA is not a league where you get rewarded with playing time based on seniority. If you want to be on the court, go out and prove you have to be on the court. Something he has yet to do up to this point in his career.
Also, tread lightly Brandon Judd you're stealing Gurney's bi-weekly go to column. That's no way to promote harmony in the workplace.

The Kings are bad. Jimmer is worse. The Kings drafted him because they wanted him to play. But he quickly proved to them that he's not good enough to play on the NBA's worst team. Put it this way: The Kings are the worst defensive team in the NBA, but Jimmer's defense is so bad that he can't even crack the rotation. Who's fault is that, The Kings' or Jimmer's? I suppose it's the Kings' fault for not being able to see past the Jimmer hype machine when they wasted a draft pick on him.

His "career" has turned out, exactly as I said it would!

Best player at byu in 30 years, and perhaps ever, can't even make it off the bench.

    What a program!

    LOL

He will never make it in the NBA because he did not play at a bcs school like the Utes which would have made him a three star in the nba.

Our Utes will donminate this year in basketball and we for sure will have at least 4 nba stars from our team this year with our powerful bcs program.

His new role will be riding the pine, hoping another guard has an injury, and collecting a big fat pay-check most of us would be jealous off. Jimmer could last a while in this league, but not as a player with many minutes. Jimmer your future lies as a shooting coach at a junior college.

The comments on this page say a lot more about the people making them, and the peculiar pathologies of the region in which they live, than about the subject of the article.

    @ Chrissy B, and Not-so-Brave Sir Robin:

You simply can't pass up the temptation to badmouth anything or anyone associated to BYU. I'm actually starting to feel a bit sorry for you guys with your perennial negative mindsets.

BTW: Chris... you predicted Jimmer wouldn't even make the NBA. And as usual, you were wrong once again. At least Jimmer is trying to improve his game. Too bad you can't do the same with your predictions.

Robin... The reason the Kings are the worst team in the league is mostly because they have a coach who doesn't seem to know what he doing most of the time. That is a more valid reason for Jimmer not playing a lot, as opposed to your weak and unsubstantiated analogies.

  • Tators Hyrum, UT
    Oct. 3, 2013 2:13 p.m.

    @ Chris B:

Yes, indeed, what a program. That basketball program at BYU has totally dominated the Utes over this past decade (winning 90% of those games) in a way that has been making Utah seem more like a Junior College program.

So you may want to stop and realize that the more you put BYU's program down, the worse you are making your Utes look.

  • Tators Hyrum, UT
    Oct. 3, 2013 2:31 p.m.

    @ Chris:

If you put even a fraction of the time into objectively following BYU sports than you do hating and disparaging anything BYU, you'd know that there are several players from BYU in the past 30 years who have played more years in the NBA than you have correct game predictions.
Danny Ainge is a player that comes to mind who was very successful. He probably has more NBA title rings than Utah will have wins the rest of this season.

People who criticize the success of others who make more in one year than they do in a lifetime seem pretty petty and jealous.

  • idablu Idaho Falls, ID

How Utah fans can badmouth Jimmer's talent after he practically single handedly destroyed Utah when he played them is beyond logic. You realize that you haters who have zero objectivity, also have zero credibility.

  • Dennis Harwich, MA

Jimmer is really living in a pipe dream thinking he's going to find real success in the NBA. Nothing personal here, he's just the cut out for the job.
Were I advising him I'd get him on a Mission, make sure he has his degree in place and with his BYU (celebrity) I think a good future with a career in a Utah business would do him well.
It's not time to fish, it's time to cut bait!

  • Winglish Lehi, UT

    @ Dennis

    1. Jimmer is married. He won't be going on a mission anytime soon.

    2. Jimmer is making $2.5 million this year and his contract is already guaranteed for next season because the Kings opted him in. If he retires from the NBA, he will have made between $9 and $10 million in salary, plus whatever he has made in endorsement money. He could retire and live high on the hog with simple interest from a savings account. Jimmer is a made man financially. He has no need to do anything more.

    3. Jimmer is a marketable product for NBA franchises. He will get another contract even if it is as a third string guard on the end of the bench.

    That's pretty good fishing.

I am a BYU alum, and hardly a BYU hater.

    Just a Jimmer hater.

    Deal with it.
