Dreadful, so what does the governor deem priority government? We are ready? Dose
that mean we have a trillion dollar line of credit in Utah to maintain the
status quo of indentured government? Has the thought of capping
welfare and shutting it down? Any program receiving federal funding are not
essential governemnt. I hope the governor is making plans to delete services and
costs in everything federally dependent. Its very unlikely federal governemnt
will shut down becasue essential federal governemnt is defined and covered in
budget disputes among the delegates. Welfare and state funding is not essential
federal funding and that is how the governor should plan. Gone oar
the days of the horn of plenty in Washington DC, and this is the concept that a
smart and wise governor would plan.Utah is not ready to be independent
from the federal control, they don't have the spine to be Americans.
I've heard it said that the Chinese symbol for "crisis" is also the
symbol for "opportunity."We all remember that ByeloRussia,
Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and the Ukraine are now free from Soviet domination
because the Soviets are no more. Their leaders creatively handled the economy
via a centralized system dominated by an elite group totally ignorant of
farming, banking, manufacturing, sales, real estate, mediciae, (and devoid even
of common sense) until it completely collapsed.Tremendous hardship and upheaval
resulted. With the U.S. government operating off the eqaivalent of
"payday loans," that are always up for renewal, the federal government
may very well collapse. Some of the early settlers to Utah got the
uncomfortable feeling that their territory had been forcibly annexed by the U.S.
government. It is just possible that one of these days, if not this October, but
eventually, God will set himself to undo a system that no longer serves his
ends. When that happens, (and it has already become a foregone conclusion,) the
several states will becom truly sovereign entities answerable only to their own
citizens. God has warned teh saints about this day since the beginning of the
Okay, I didn't click to read this article for political opinion. I wanted
to read what exactly Utah is prepared for and what is needed for improvements.
What parts that directly affect the public would be affected, what is planned by
the state, who exactly is in charge of planning and implementation, what is the
county and city government's responsibilities, and what is the
citizen's part to make the plans more effective? Those questions are not
answered. This is just another hit piece disguised as news. Please redo the article to include those questions and any others DN feels is
necessary to inform us and answer them - in detail!
Thank the radial Texas Senator's Utah assistant.
If the government is to be shut down it would be a great idea to stop all
paychecks and benefits to members of Congress and their staffs. Please leave the
Parks open, they are useful and functional as opposed to our esteemed leaders.
Utah needs to get out of the "middleman" job, and let the federal
programs that hand out welfare do so directly. Utah values are
based on hard work, self reliance, personal responsibility, and charitable
giving and voluntary help to those in need. Utahns can, and will, take care of
Utahns truly in need. The other federal programs which dole out money
for non-welfare programs need to be carefully scrutinized, and evaluated to see
if the "free cheese" is worth the risk of being trapped into performing
tasks and programs that Utah would be better without. Those "attached
strings" are major costs that cannot be ignored and can skew spending of
Utah tax dollars on programs which we would not voluntarily start.Yeah, the socialists and welfare for everyone crowd will not like this, but
they are free to donate more of their time and earnings to handout programs if
they feel so strongly about them.Good on the Governor for keeping
his options open, and refusing to panic over the "federal shutdown is the
end of the world" rhetoric from the deceitful Democrats.
No one disagrees with the fact that many people will be serious harmed by this
arrogant grandstanding by the extremists on the right, and senator Lee's
smirking irrational behavior in shutting down the government. But what those
who voted for him seem to be unable to recognize is that Lee does not care one
bit who gets hurt. He and Cruz are not wanting to help the people of this
country, they just want to promote themselves. This is all tilting
at windmills with Romneycare (AKA Obamacare) being mischaracterized by the right
wing. Lee and Cruz stand up, thump their chests and tell everyone how great
they are, ask for more money (donations), and then privately smirk and laugh
that thousands of people are dumb enough to believe what they say.
I, for one, would like to see the government shut down. I think it would go this
country a lot of good.
I don't understand why you said that Ted Cruz and Mike Lee didn't make
a difference. It most certainly did! People were proud of them for standing up
and taking a stand for principle! It may not be a poplular stand with some, but
either was standing up for Jesus Christ at one time. They did the RIGHT thing.
I find it interesting that congress cut food stamps for the poor. But did not
cut farm subsidies that go to billionaires and millionaires. I guess those with
money for "donations" get the freebies.
The Federal Government shuts down every weekend and I love my weekends.Perhaps there is a cause and effect relationship.
The government has hijacked America! We have "leaders" who
think they are in charge. Hmmmpf.Power to the people!
Dems wont negotiate over a law that they rammed though on a partisan vote before
anyone read it to find out what's in it - it remains unpopular Republican have passed a bill to keep government moving and stop a law that
Obama illegally keeps delaying anyhowObama and Reid refuse to negotiate
anything - yet leftists have the absolute gall to try to blame Republicans for a
This article should be subtitled "Former Senator Bob Bennett tells us again
why he lost his last election bid."
Other than for the military, the federal government does nothing for us. Shut
it down and let it stay shut down. We would all be better off. I certainly
would not miss it. It does nothing for me except steal money from me.
I might be wrong but it seems like we hear these articles every 6 months or so.
For the past 200 years before recent history the government passed a budget.
Why can't they just do that and move on.
