There's nothing affordable about this "Affordable" act. Gone are
the days when government made policy to actually help people while not helping
the government grow. This is about growing the influence of a corrupt
leadership, and has NOTHING to do with lowering healthcare costs. The government
can't lower healthcare costs because they can't fix prices. I'm
sure the left would love to fix prices if they could. Instead government gets in
the way of competitiveness with needless excess regulation, which DRIVES UP
costs due to a WHOLESALE LACK OF COMPETITION. All the ACA does is exacerbates
this problem. This brand of politics stinks. Taxes keep growing. Government
keeps losing legitimacy and efficiency.
Given how desperate large corporations (McDonald's, Home Depot, etc.) and
unions have been to get waivers and how Congress recently rewrote rules so they
and their staff members could receive subsidies to make it affordable for THEM,
how can we expect anything good to come of it for the rest of us?
Disaster is looming. The Dear Leader's socialist agenda will be in full
swing when this train wreck is implemented. Prophecy is being fulfilled.
Capsaicin, The status quo has resulted in tens of millions of
Americans being forced to go without health insurance because they can't
afford the premiums or they've got pre-existing conditions, or both.
Healthcare costs are the #1 cause of personal bankruptcies in our nation.
It's an indefensible mess. The ACA pulls those uninsured
Americans into the healthcare insurance pool (btw, all privately run) and
creates insurance exchanges and tax credits to provide an insurance program for
those who's employers can't or won't offer health insurance to
their workers. If it were up to me we'd adopt a European style
single-payer system and completely eliminate our byzantine and inefficient
private health insurance industry altogether, but that's just my opinion.
Instead, we're merely looking to implement a healthcare
financing system that was originally the brainchild of the ultra-conservative
Heritage Foundation and touted by Republicans as their solution to our existing
healthcare financing mess... until it was embraced by President Obama and now
you guys say it's horrible.I swear, if President Obama spoke
publicly about the importance of oxygen you'd start arguing in favor of
The average price for basic health coverage purchased on ACA health insurance
exchanges will be $249 a month, not counting subsidies, in 48 states reviewed
by HHS, according to a government report published Wednesday. The
figures released represent averages and prices will vary widely by geographic
location as well as family size, age, tobacco use and income. Even the average
price of a so-called bronze plan, designed to cover 60% of medical expenses not
counting monthly premiums, masks big variation. The average price of the
cheapest bronze plan in Minnesota is $144 while in Wyoming, comparable coverage
costs $425 on average, not including subsides. For people who
currently are uninsured and who qualify for financial assistance or enrollment
in Medicaid, the federal-state health program for the poor, the average prices
look to be low: 56% of uninsured will be able to get coverage for less than $100
a month per person, Gary Cohen, director of the Center for Consumer Information
and Insurance Oversight, said during the conference call.(Huffington
It's going to work eventually. It's a free market solution because the
exchanges are full of competitors.
To "Blue" stop spreading the lies.Prior to the ACA the 1996
HIPPAA law required that uninsurable people were to have a state run insurance
pool. Those that just had pre-existing conditions were often put on 6 to 12
moth probationary periods where they were treated for everything but
pre-existing conditions. Oftent he probationary period was waived if they were
covered previously by another insurance provider. Why would you want
a universal care system? Do you want to give sub-par care like in the UK? Do
you want to have people waiting excessive times for surgeries? Do you want
doctors to close up shop because the healthcare money was spent for the year
like in Germany? Do you want to ration hospital stays like in Japan, or limit
how many times you can see a doctor like in Taiwan?Do you really
want to see people suffer because the government can't provide everything
I predict mass suicides across the board. This is going to break the people
it's supposed to be helping and they will have less income as they are
forced to work part time. And those "ultra rich" CEOS of small mom and
pop businesses will go totally under. Stupid liberals think anybody who makes
$100,000 a year or who owns a mom and pop store is a 1% billionare. Thats how
deluded they are.
Truth is, Obama had a political agenda, not a political solution. He wants the
government to be the driver of the economy and do away with the whatever is left
of the free market economy. Government picks winners and losers in the market.
Look at the renewable energy debacle. Money was funneled to his political
supporters for their massive projects, including General Motors. The best
solution would have been, increase the eligibility criteria for
medicare/medicaid and fund accordingly. Done! Medicare and Medicaid will
negotiate their reimbursement rates as they have always done. By creating
another monster and have the IRS as their bouncer, are you kidding? What
business do they have knowing my medical history. Next thing you know, it will
be anonymously leaked to the press that I have thrombosis hemorrhoids?By
increasing the eligibility criteria for medicaid/medicare, everyone who need
insurance will be covered. But, that's too easy. 13000 additional IRS
employees have been hired to monitor your health records. How dumb! Besides,
life has consequences. If you work hard, you get rewarded with good job and pay.
If you don't, and rely on Government you just surrender your liberty to the
government. Just saying
Health care, like fire and police protection, environmental safeguards, and
public health, is a social responsibility.
Getting everyone to the doctor when they need it would bring blessing upon a
"christian" nation wouldn't it? So why do the pharisees believe we
will be cursed for it?
