Nothing like a week off to put the brakes on your momentum. I'm worried
that Hill won't be as sharp throwing the ball after the layoff - he might
accidentally hit his targets with what would normally have been terrible tosses.
With the worst passer rating QB in the entire country, I'm not worried.Utah fans were more worried about the Weber game.Van Noy,
Hoffman 0-4 in their careers against their rivals. That must be quite
embarrassing for you byu fans.Go UTES
Utah 32byu 24Why? We have better athletes. Says who? Bronco
apparently, since he wanted our guys. Did you know Utah has beaten
byu in HEAD to HEAD recruiting every year since our Pac 12 invite, with the
majority of the guys to commit mentioning the Pac 12 as a big reason.I ask, if byu can't even get the best Mormon kids(as they haven't
every year since our Pac 12 invite, with most preferring Pac 12 over
independence), who CAN byu get?3-0 in recruiting 3-0 on the
field.Coincidence?Nope!Even the best Mormons
prefer Utah these days!
The team that turns the ball over the most will lose this game. Simple but true
because that one factor has cost BYU wins in every game they have lost in recent
memory. The Utes will put 8 defenders in the box to try to shut down BYU's
rushing attack. If Taysom Hill can complete even a few passes without turning
the ball over, I like BYU's chances because BYU's defense is good
enough to stifle any offense.Chris B. I am glad to read your prediction
because I have run a statistical analysis of your past predictions and you have
been wrong 79.8% of the time when predicting BYU losses and when you predict
Utah wins, you have been correct only 44.8% of the time i.e. your flamboyant
Oregon State forecast. I like BYU's odds in this game but I won't make
any other prediction than I have above.P.S. What is your prediction in the
upcoming UCLA game?
Wow! What more evidence is needed to the Ute fan obsession of BYU than to have
the first 3 posts to this BYU article... 2 of them being the infamous Chris B
using both of his online monikers. One of the many facts you keep
forgetting Chris. The game this year has not been played yet. No one is 4-0
against anyone else. Nor will they be. And who specifically are
"the best Mormons" who prefer Utah that you refer to? And why would any
of them want to play for the cellar team of any conference... no matter how
prestigious you think that conference is. It's the SEC, not the PAC that
dominates in national championships over this past decade. You're becoming
more desperate and comical with each comment. Another fact, most
good football players (Mormon or not) prefer playing in post season bowl games.
Which one did Utah play in last year?If Ute fans (including you)
were more concerned with Weber than BYU, then why are you obviously so
ultra-obsessed with BYU? And if that is a fact, that wouldn't speak much
for your football mentality. Texas wasn't so worried either.
@Mountanman - thanks for doing the research to point out cb's winning
percentage. Priceless.@cb - just to be clear, if / when BYU wins
will you stop posting on BYU articles with all your monikers, or just your cb
moniker?I'm with the editor on the week off - it's a mixed
bag. Taking a week off can lose some momentum from a big win like Texas. But
giving the injured players another week to recoup is a good thing. It will be
good to have Hague and Reilly to add some depth at DB. Hoffman should be close
to 100%For U who are thrashing Hill completion percentage / QB
rating, just remember he was throwing in torential rains most of the time in
week 1 and 2, against a Texas defense running a nickel package. When U load the
box, and no rain in the forcast, look for a big passing day.
I've printed up a few "Basement Boys" window stickers. They are
meant to put just below the "PAC 12" window stickers we see on a few
cars here and there.I like accuracy. Plus they look
nice and resonate duality with alliteration. All worry-free, since
they fade quickly then scrape off easily, just like the "PAC 12"
I'm sure fans on both sides have become pretty aware of those who exist to
be inflammatory, to incite and bait, and offer nothing of any value to these
discussions, and so the rest of us have become sort of "friends" in
opposite camps, which is cool. So, I'm chiming in as an objective football
fan whose team is the Utes, to remind BYU contributors here there are people
with brains and maturity who like Red.This one's a tough one. I
don't know what to make of it, ever, and I'm not going to try because
nothing that anybody ever predicts actually takes place. I think it comes down
to one thing: if Taysom can pass, and he'll have to be more than pretty
good, BYU wins. If he doesn't, I can't see how one-dimensionality gets
it done in this particular game, which (but for the 56-10 aberration), has been
an unbelievably well fought and crazy close series of games the last eight
years.May the best team win, and this is an attitude that would
serve all the empty-headed smack-talkers well. Get 'em Utes!
A lot of pressure on the cougars and their coach to win this game. Love it.Go Utes.
@Chris B. Nice of you to show up today. Figured you were hiding somewhere since,
as everyone knows, all of you essays on why U will beat OSU kind of came
crashing down.Hill doesn't need to be a great passer if the U
defends the run like they did against OSU. I'm betting BYU's run game
is better than theirs. And if it is then, when U try to load the box, Hill will
demonstrate that he can pass well enough.BYU wins by 14+
@jdaliix - If only more people could keep it the way you did. Well said. TO
many stones being cast from both sides. I love to hear the prospective of a
true fan of the game. You like the Red Guys up north. I like my Bruins in
Cali. So why can't we all keep it cordial. I agree with your post, if
Hill passes well, I think Utah will be in trouble. If they can't, I think
it is a long day for BYU.I am pulling for BYU in this game, just
because I am choosing blue over red, even though red is my favorite color. But
they are going to be at the top of their game to win I think. Utah despite
losing last week impressed me more than in weeks one or two. But in
two weeks. GO BRUINS!!!!!
surf is up,The problem with the go fast go hard mentality is that it
makes hill rush his passes, even when there's no pressure.
byu is an emotionally fragile program. Remember 54-10?That was as
much an emotional meltdown as it was physical, although byu was physically
dominated as wellIt will be fun watching you guys self destruct
again on Saturday, and then come up with whatever lame excuse you can for why
you loseThe rain, the refs, you "gave" us the turnovers.Whatever whateve whateverUtah has better coaching and better
athletes and we'll beat the lower competition come Saturday.Just like we've done the last 3 years.
@ekute "A lot of pressure on the cougars and their coach to win this game.
Love it."But there's no pressure on Whittingham et al to
win in a season where wins are going to be scarce already right? I mean if the
utes lose to a lowly mid major like BYU then the rest of the PAC12 laughs at
you.Who is the pressure really on? Its on the team who has been in
an AQ conference for several seasons and has done nothing to show they really
belong there. And certainly nothing to demonstrate they are better than the
supposedly filthy WAC/MWC teams they left behind. Right?
In this game...the pressure is on byu.
@ekuteLayton, UT"In this game...the pressure is on
byu."===How would not making it to a Bowl game two
years straight do to recruiting? Kyle's job security? I would
guess there is pressure on both teams this week. The Texas and OSU
games show how both teams responded to pressure.
Utah will contain Hill's ability to run, basically shut it down, and
BYU's passing attack will amount to 3 and outs. Utah will "upset"
BYU. BYU will manage a field goal and lose 45 to 3.
Chris and Christopher BYou guys are funny. You represent
a team that has never beaten a good PAC12 team. You represent a team
that played in the No Bowl game last year.Let me know when you
actually beat someone in the PAC12.LOL
