Wow! Wish I could have been one of the lucky few selected for tickets to this
concert. I hope that this will someday be available for viewing by the rest of
us. I wonder whether he'll be performing his ballad "Steamroller"
with the choir. Oh well, I'll just have to wait for the DVD.
In the 70's I was aware of and liked JT's music, but not passionately.
In the early 90's I bought the New Moon Shine CD, because I liked
Copperline. When I first listened to the rest of the CD, I thought 'What
have I done?' However, after 2-3 times, I started to get it. In the next
months I was hooked on every thing he did. I don't know why it clicked
with me but his always singular and often quirky music drew me in. It's
amazing how he puts the music together and still performs, perhaps better than
ever, in recent years.
We were lucky enough to see Audra McDonald last night at BYU, what an amazing
concert. We gave away our Tanner Gift of Music tickets since we didn't
want a letdown after last night!
Maple Don referred to an up coming DVD of the performance. I hope that's
true that therewill be a DVD of James Taylor with the Choir. I did not see
any reference to a DVD in the news story. We mentioned in a comment yesterday
in another story on the DN website that we, who live outside of Utah, kind of
feel "left out" of these events if they are NOTput on the BYU-TV
channel. When BYU-TV came to be (about a dozen years ago), it was understood
that this would bring the "Events of Utah" to a World-Wide audience,
since muchof the LDS Church members live well beyond the Watsatch Front
and the borders of the state of Utah. Over the years (especially the last few)
this idea seems to have faded. BYU-TV is now loaded with an number of
"Canadian Television" re-runs and there's not room for the Pioneer
Day Parade or this Mormon Tabernace Choir performance with one of
"America's" great singers??It would be nice to see this
(even delayed) over BYU-TV. If not, when will the DVD be available? Thank You.
David...as per the other article and my response there...yes there will be
something on BYU-TV in a bit...keep an eye open. It will get there.
