Giving cash has some real risks. It often ends up enabling addictions or
supporting illegal activities. That is why I reserve giving cash to people I
personally know. At least I have some sense whether the cash will be used to
help with needs or to enable wrongdoing.
I do what I can when I can. That's all I can do. There was a time when
bumming someone a smoke was no big dill. Now I've know how many smokes is
in a pack and how much each one of those smokes cost. It's a big dill now.
The article only mentions one charity that uses this method. If it doesn't
succeed, they will find out soon enough and either discontinue or try something
else. It wouldn't be the first time that something a bit counter-intuitive
actually works. Does that mean T have a brain, too?
