When you control for field, level of education, and years of experience, there
is no wage gap. Any "study" that does not account for these factors will
most most certainly be criticized as shoddy research.
What metrics are useful in the "fairness" study? Who determines this?
Perhaps there are other criteria that are not being considered.In
general, it would seem that such "studies" tend to return whatever
result is most desired by the group doing the "study". In other words,
they tend to see what they want to see. Perhaps the Institute for
Women's Policy Research group could study first whatever "wage gap"
exists within their own organization - strictly in the interest of
"fairness", of course.
Any public service job, say teacher or firefighter or police officer, has the
same exact scale for men and women.
