Oh of COURSE!!!! We cater to 4A & 5A during every single realignment why
not give them 3 officials!!! I mean 1A, 2A, and 3A kids are so much less; it is
soooooo important to have three officials for the big games!!! Look @ the
ratios of students in a school for realignments. If you used the same ratios
that are used for 2A or 3A the entire 4A & 5A would be ONE division. But it is so obvious that it is so much easier to fill all the high
school sports teams at school with 300-500 students versus 1300-1500
Super trooper is right, what about the other classifications makes them any less
to get three officials?
Probably because 4A & 5A schools bring in at least twice as much money on
their games because they have more fans/students in attendance than all the
other classifications. For example, if you have Davis High (which has 2500
students) playing at Lone Peak (another very large 5A school) you may have 1000
students from Davis go the game not including parents/other community members.
The revenue just from the visiting student tickets would be $4,000. Now compare
that to two smaller schools playing each other that have 500 students each. Now
even if every single one of those students go to the away game, it would only
result in $2,000 in ticket sales. I can guarantee this is a money issue.
