Well then utah has a problem. It will be an extremely long season ok n the way
to the basement.
Not a prayer of finding another qb like johnson. The good qb's in the pac
will end up in the top tier schools not the cellar dwellers.
Sounds like more excuses being prepared to explain more QB problem.
Down under, now you are in Eugene, weren't you last in Utah, and before
that in Pullman? Making the PAC 12 rounds I see and getting rejected at each
stop. Where next, Tucson? iI can tell you it is a no go for you in Tempe; maybe
you should try the WCC as the that't more the Ys level. I find it amusing
to no end all the Y trolls obsessed are about/think they know about the PAC 12
(a way your team will never be). If it were me, I would be more worried about
the mid major independence (bleak) landscape your team inhabits; a venerable
road to nowhere. Go Utes, Go Aggies.
Johnson was not a great quarterback. He had a strong sophomore season where he
was all over the field, but then didn't play great until his Senior season
the last 5 games. Other than that he was slightly above average. He had the best
football in his life at the end of 2008. I'm glad he did what he did but
honestly don't over dramatize him.
I think they should aim higher. IMO Johnson wouldn't be good enough to
compete a PAC 11.1 schedule his best season with the uTes notwithstanding.
@sammyg Excuses? The article wasn't written by a Utah coaching
Im still concerned a little bit for Travis Wilson. I feel like BJ puts so much
pressure on this kid to be great....but sometimes you got it or you don't,
it can't be pushed on you. with saying that I hope Travis surprises us all!
clehmanObviously the days of great ute quarterbacking are history
and the article doesn't provide much hope for this season.Yeah,
those would be excuses.
Honestly? It shouldn't be that hard as johnson was by no means
"great". He did a good job but that 2008 team did what it did mainly
because of the defense which was excellent. They had a good enough offense but
it wasn't anything great and that includes johnson. As utah "fans"
so often tell us the true measure of how great a player is is determined by what
they do in the NFL. In johnson's case he was not even the most far fetched
of an NFL consideration. Just the way it is.
No one has done to Alabama (since then) what Brian Johnson did, except for maybe
Johny Football last year. For what he did against Bama, not to mention Oregon
State and TCU, he will always be highly regarded in my book. The 2008-2009
season and resume speaks for itself.....second to none!Nice to have
depth at QB, but not totally sold on Travis Wilson. Let's get this season
not everyone gets to be the cover athlete of a game played by millions of people
