Define, and bolster the middle class? If our political leaders
really really cared,-we wouldn't have a national debt equal to $186,000 for
every second of three years.Lavish vacations, and conferences would
be at a minimum.
“President Obama has been on the road citing the need for programs that
bolster the middle class.”The Socialist-in-Chief couldn't
care less about the middle class other than using them for class warfare. He
wants equality: everyone equally poor, equally impoverished. That's his
idea of "fairness."
Very interesting insight -- because companies have no loyalty to their
employees, and we've seen companies lay off workers to bolster stock prices
and profits, young workers see that their futures at most companies are
short-term and that there's no incentive to plant roots and buy homes since
they may have to be flexible in moving at a moment's notice. Sad
commentary on our American way of life. Homes used to be middle
class America's most important asset -- both financially and for raising a
family. No wonder more Americans are opting out of having kids -- as noted in
another article featured in today's Des News. Moving around from job to
job every few years makes it hard to raise a traditional family.
worf:I'll guess your vision of the way forward is to keep
defense spending high, and slash social programs. It sounds a lot like Texas,
actually, where corporate regulations are minimal, when a tragedy happens at an
amusement park, the park investigates itself, 25% of the public have no health
insurance, and executions are so common people don't even notice anymore.
Texas, where true freedom involves a washed out rocker mowing down 400 wild hogs
from a helicopter, with a machine gun.We need to get our fiscal
situation improved, unquestionably, but turning the rest of the nation into
Texas doesn't sound very appealing.
@10CC:* "25% of the public have no health
insurance"--who'se fault is that? Why force others to pay it?*
Strong defense keeps a country free while supplying jobs.* "the park
investigates itself?"--better than government investigating itself,--voting
on their pay raises, checking out Benghazi, guns to Mexican cartels, IRS
conferences, etc.* executions? Bin Laden, and an American Ambassador in
Libya, Gadaffi, innocent Americans along the Mexican borders, etc.Texas is the leading economic state. Please don't pull class warfare,
and envy, as has been exemplified by our current leaders.
Ask yourself these questions;1. Are you ignored by your elected
representatives?2. Are your taxes normally the last to be reduced
and first to be increased?3. Is your job the first to be cut, the
last to be restored and never respected?4. Do you never see any
type of government assistance? If you answered yes yes yes and no,
you are middle class.Any while they may take you home, your car,
your family and your dignity, they can never take this away from you.......never
Who ever dreams of being middle class?I believe we all have better
dreams than that.Obama is certainly not living like he is middle
class. And he is loving off our money.
There is risk in home ownership. People don't want to buy a house because
the market is down. They will wait until the market is up to buy a house. They
will buy a house they can't afford that they could have afforded when the
market was down and rates were low. The market will crash again. Buy low, sell
high - not the other way around.
To "10CC" what you and your ilk forget is that with freedom you also get
responsibility. If we cut entitlements, we could cut those in half
and still be spending more on entitlements than on the military. It is just how
you budget. You start at the biggest expense, and have to ask yourself can it
be cut. Can we afford to make the nation defenseless? No.Can we
afford to tell our kids that they will need to save up their own money for
retirement? Yes.Can we afford to tell the SNAP and WIC participants
that drive nice cars, have expensive cell phone plans, and live in nice areas
that they need to cut back on expenses? Yes.There are so many
entitlement programs out there now that they are beginning to be a huge drain on
the system. They must be cut.
Hard to feel sympathy for poor people who voted in our corrupt leaders. On the trail we're on, the middle class will transform to poverty.
There IS no Middle class. There is the 1% who own 80% of everything,
and there is the 99% of the rest of us who fight over the table scraps.Besides - wasn't it Mitt Romney who told us that 47% don't
even make enough to pay taxes?
Because of liberals, we have no middle-class.You know. Like the
ones in Detroit, and California.
To "LDS Liberal" what country do you live in because it obviously
isn't the US. According to Forbes article "Average America vs the One
Percent " the top 1% control 43%. You may believe the liberal lie, but the
rest of us don't.It wasn't Mitt Romney who told us that
47% pay no income taxes. That was the Tax Policy Center that leaked that bit of
information onto the world. The ironic thing is that the IRS backs up that
statement.Does the truth bother you?
A new chart from the Economic Policy Institute, using data from NYU Economist Ed
Wolff, shows that more than 80% of the nation’s wealth gains between 1983
and 2009 went to the wealthiest top 5%. The top 1% gained 40% of the
nation’s total wealth gain, while the next 4% gained 41.5%.Reaganomics really worked well for a very small percentage of Americans and
has definitely not worked for the other 95% of Americans. Wake up, trickle down
is a wealth redistribution torrent up that never gave back.
