    Rep. Grayson would do well to advocate for mandatory sick time for full-time employees instead of vacation. When I entered the workforce, many companies gave liberal sick time. One of my early employers gave a staggering 44 sick days per year! As people abused it, companies seemed to cut back. Now, many employers in my area give you "paid time off," which merges sick time and vacation. If you're sick, you essentially have to take vacation time. As a result, a lot of employees come to work sick because they don't want to lose vacation days. It's bad enough when office workers come to work sick, but it's really awful when food workers come to work sick.
