What a sad situation. After reading this article it looks to me this boy who
"ran away" doesn't want to be found. I feel for his parents.
The young man has probably made a number of bad choices thus far. Although
still a "child" he alone bears responsibility for he consequences of
most of them, although he may have other problems which mitigate the blame
somewhat. Thoughts and prayers to the entire family, and those who
try to help troubled kids like this in various programs. Although they may
succeed with many kids, not all can or will be helped.
I wonder how much this camp charges for putting troubled kids in tents and
having them do "service" projects. My husband is a Church leader and we
get a lot of promotions in the mail from businesses out west that want to help
troubled kids. I always feel that this kind of service should be provided by
public entities, which are heavily regulated. We need a modern Charles Dickens
to shine a light on these private providers of children's services. When
profit is the motive, children are the losers.
