It's going to be a great year for BYU football. We're excited to watch
this team play!Go Cougars!
I'm a little nervous with so many "ifs" at the secondary. The
defense could be stellar again this season, but they could also be much less
effective. Can't wait to find out. Go Cougs!
It's going to be fun to watch this year. I hope BYU can make this a great
year. 9-3 would be fantastic. Any more wins would be over the top.
I little off topic (BYU secondary) but I really am excited to finally have
consistent quarterback play. That alone will make a huge difference for the
This secondary will be so good.
Recruiting in the secondary needs to improve. Especially at the CB position,
which has been the achilles heel of the BYU defense almost every year. The depth
is really bad behind returning starters Sorensen, Bills, and Johnson. I
don't know how I feel about a converted fullback playing corner... Luckily
both the LB corps and D-Line are legit.
I just wish we had the utah's secondary. utah won't allow a passing
touchdown this year...make that the next two years.
everyone in the secondary for utah can run a sub 4-second 40. they're
I believe the JUCO transfers will fill in just fine, and solidify the secondary,
and hague will be moved to back up safety or used as a nickle-back.
Wiscougarfan: What's the scoop on UW football with their new coach?
I've always been under the impression that UW is a run first, pass if
necessary team, but don't know how Anderson will affect that. Just
wondered if you've gotten any feel for that in the local sports news.
No offense about Mike Hague, but I can't see him as a CB. Does not seen
fast enough or with enough lateral quickness. More of a back up safety as
RE: metamoracougHonestly I don't follow my badgers nearly as
closely as I follow the cougs, but I think it's safe to say that UW will
continue to be a rush focused team. Anderson has done well with run happy teams
in the past and with our current question mark at QB and lack of depth at WR
it's likely we'll continue to see James White and the other backs with
the ball most of the time. Melvin Gordon, our sophomore RB, has a ton of
potential so hopefully he'll get more reps this season. All-in-all I think
we have a pretty solid team returning, one that can compete for the Big 10 title
and a fourth consecutive Rose Bowl appearance.
Dan Sorenson is the man. He will be a beast this year. College football season
is right around the corner and cannot come soon enough! Go Cougars!
Re: StrobelMike Hague is a good football player, but I think someone
will take his job after Fall Camp, whether it is one of the newcomers, or
someone else on the roster who will emerge at that spot. I honestly thought that
Cameron Comer or Trevor Bateman might emerge at that spot but I guess according
to coaches they none of them impressed enough to be named as a starter. They are
talented enough, but I guess they just aren't ready to start at the D-1
level. We'll see what happens at that spot, but I don't think Hague
will be starting come week 1 against Virginia.
Okay, the team should be stronger or as strong in most positions. But, what
about the kicking game. Will we be able to get a fieldgoal longer than 30
yards? Our defense will keep us close in most games so, like last year, a field
goal will decide whether we win or lose games again this year.
It's not the secondary I'm worried about. Success will lie almost
solely with whether or not they develop any kind of offense. Hill is a definite
upgrade from Nelson, the RB's and WR's are good but, I haven't
read anything positive about the O-Line...
