I am really looking forward to watching the Aggies in this newly expanded MWC.
I think this is going ot be a very entertaining league to watch. I hope the
Aggies can keep the momentum going and become a serious player in their new
Besides Boise games against power conference teams, I can barely stomach to
watch the WAC/MWC teams play anymore. USU had a nice run last year, but face it
aggies, you'll never have a top 10 finish, you'll never play in a huge
bowl game, you'll never go undefeated, you'll never truly be fighting
for a national championship. And the thing I like about aggies, they typically
accept and acknowledge these facts. Other fans are not so humble. USU is one of the teams where I'm glad when they're doing well, but
I'd rather go do yardwork than watch a WAC/MWC game these days. There is power conference football. And then there is non-power
conference football.I can barely stomach the latter after enjoying
firsthand the prestige of the former.Go aggiesGo UTES
Oh and let me add,Yes aggies you beat us last year.Congratulations.are you already getting ready to storm the field
next time it happens in 2030?LOL!
Go Ags! Prove the naysayer(s) wrong.@Chris B"There
is power conference football. And then there is non-power conference football. I
can barely stomach the latter after enjoying firsthand the prestige of the
former."Careful there, man. The Utes still haven't proven a
thing in the PAC. And until they do, they're not any better than those
non-power conference teams you've been taking stabs at.
@Sambone"The Utes still haven't proven a thing in the PAC.
And until they do, they're not any better than those non-power conference
teams you've been taking stabs at"Not true at all.First, the Pac 12 could have invited byu, usu, sdsu, Nevada, boise,
UNLV......And those teams would JUMP at the chance. They'd
accept no questions asked. but the pac 12 didn't.So
clearly the Pac 12 thought Utah was worthy of a Pac 12 invite. The
Pac 12 could also invite these teams any day, 365 days a year, if we thought
they were worthy. But we haven't. Because they're not. Also, byu/usu fans are quick to forget we are the last team in the
nation to beat Bama in a bowl game. Familiar with Alabama and Nick Saban
perhaps? We went to 2 BCS gamesWe went undefeated twice in the
last 10 yearsWe won 2 BCS gamesOnly Boise even compares to us
in that regard.Keep believing that because Utah has had a tough time
in a tough schedule that we are on par with a byu, usu, boise, unlv...LOL!Pac 12 call you lately?Didn't think so.
ChristyPower conference football = Boise State versus Utah StatePowder-puff conference football = Utah versus ColoradoBig
boy football = BYU versus Texas / Notre DameThe team the PAC
desperately wanted, visits Provo this year. The team the PAC settled
for, resides in SLC.The Utes are lucky that they're not in the
MWC anymore, because they'd be bottom-dwelling, bowl no shows. At least by
being in the PAC, the Utes have a convenient excuse for losing.
Chris my friend,"First, the Pac 12 could have invited byu, usu,
sdsu, Nevada, boise, UNLV......And those teams would JUMP at the
chance. They'd accept no questions asked."jI wouldn't
jump to this conclusion. I'm not so sure BYU would "JUMP" at the
chance. I think BYU likes where they are. You may not like it, but BYU is
unique, they know they are unique, they play D-1 sports for different reasons
that what other schools do, and like it or not, they are comfortable with it.
They have a profitable sports program and they are accomplishing what they want
to accomplish, so while you may not understand it, it works for them. Also, for all your infatuation with your over-rated conference, I hope you
still love it after another beat-down year this year.If you make it
to Provo on Sept 21, come on by after the game. I'll cheer you up by
talking politics with you.
Chris likes to spout off about the pac 12.I think he is right about any
other teams jumping at the offer, and he is right about what Utah did when they
were in the MWC.HOWEVERSince utah has been in the PAC they have
amounted to be a whipping boy. They are not the team that the PAC thought they
were, and since being a member have not been much more than a laughing stock. When that is the case, that's all chrisb can pound his chest about,
"what we use to do" and the "pac12"Here is the
question...would you rather be in a big conference and lose, or be in a
small conference and win?Yes, they get more money, but so far the
money is not equaling wins.I am guessing the PAC is wondering what
happened to the team that they thought was good enough to invite?
Chris B- The Aggies were quite possibly one field goal away from a BCS bowl
game last year. Just look at Northern Illinois.Give it a rest.Go Aggies!
the utes were one field goal away from a BC... oh wait... nevermind
Interesting to not hear Keaton's name on the first team list. I have a
hunch he will remind the coaches on the field that they were mistaken giving
Carr the recognition over Keaton.Utah State better take down the
Utes to start off the season. It will be a tough game being in SLC, but USU is
the better program and team right now.
So as I predicted Bosie will win the MWC again. And USU will be behind them.
What Chris B says takes guts. Wish there was more of that on these aggie pages.
But I'm not suprised there isn't since we are on the aggie pages.
Good luck behind BSU this year ladies.
#2 in MWC? As an aggie, even I can see how far the MWC has fallen if that's
the case. The only championship team at USU is the Engineering
Department, which blows all the other schools in the state out of the water. :-P
@Chris B - "I can barely stomach to watch the WAC/MWC teams play anymore.
I'd rather go do yardwork than watch a WAC/MWC game these days."So why do comment three times on a MWC team who whipped you last year?
There is no more WAC football (try to keep up). PAC didn't do too well
against the MWC last year. Just curious, the yard work you are
referring to, is that what you did last December while Cougs and Aggies were
still cheering on their teams?
Holy crap how did another Aggie thread turn into a Pac-12 vs Independence
debate? Can we stick to the AGGIES and the MWC on USU threads please?Should be a great season for Utah State. They have an opportunity to compete
for a conference championship AND go to a BCS game. Do I expect them to? No,
hardly any Aggie fans do. We would be thrilled with an 8-9 win season and
continue the sustainable growth pattern we have had for the last 2 years.love, little brother
@Chris BPerhaps you misread my post. I said the Utes haven't
proven anything in the Pac-12. Utah's accomplishments in the
MWC were significant and I don't take that away from them at all. However,
since joining the Pac-12, Utah has done almost nothing (except lose to the
Buffs... OUCH). So until Utah actually does something meaningful in
the league, I think they're a has-been.Just because U got
invited to the party, doesn't mean U necessarily belong there.
Sambone,Perhaps you forgot everything you posted. You
also said:"they're not any better than those non-power
conference teams you've been taking stabs at"and "Just because U got invited to the party, doesn't mean U necessarily
belong there"Both wrong.I'm going to guess that
by "team" you mean "program", you can correct me if that's
not what you meant. If you truly meant "team" as in the "2013
team" then I guess I could say that Weber State 2013 team is better than
Alabama 2013 because we just don't know, so again correct me if I'm
wrong, but I think you meant "program"?And a program that
has 2 undefeated seasons in the past 10 years, 2 BCS bowls in the past 10 years,
2 BCS bowl wins in the past 10 years, 2 top 10 finishes in the past 10 years YES
is better than every WAC/MWC other than boise perhaps. And yes, we
are worthy to be in the Pac 12.If we weren't, the Pac 12
wouldn't have invited us.Again, they CHOSE Utah OVER byu, OVER
usu, OVER boise, OVER SDSU, OVER UNLV,..
@Chris BThat's just grasping at straws. I was referring to
other mid-major FBS programs like BYU, Tulsa, Fresno State, or SMU. The Utes
aren't far removed from their MWC days at all, and while the
accomplishments they had in that league were significant, that's in the
past. The longer the Utes go without doing something meaningful in
the Pac-12, the less those accomplishments are going to mean. And
I'm still waiting for the Utes to defeat a Pac-12 opponent with a winning
record. Still hasn't happened in the past two years, man.
"Division 4" is coming. USU and BYU need to do whatever It takes to be
on the in. I am not making this up. Dennis Dodd did a piece on this on CBS
sport. Bob Bowlsby of the Big 12 talked about this on their media day. According
to him, they could announce this in 6 months. I am a Utah fan and would love to
see BYU and USU involve. They are even discussing only playing teams in the
Division 4. This is wrong. It's about Money. It sucks.

take pride in. Is "being a member" of the Pac-12 the best thing U have
ever accomplished? I hope not. The real bragging rights come from when you
played non-power conference football. You won 2 BCS bowls and should have won a
championship. USU can do the same. The reason you don't like watching
anymore is because U don't belong anymore, not because it's not good
Utah State will beat BSU. BSU is overrated right now and ripe for defeat on the
Crissy B,Just to be clear the PAC did not invite BYU because BYU was not
interested, BIG DIFFERENCE. The PAC11+u has a different value system then BYU
so it would not have worked out for them. I live and work in PAC Country and
believe me the name of Utah NEVER comes up when talking about the major sports.
Utah is only considered an easy win, that it. Period. Utah is NOT as relevant
as you think they are. Just ask anyone who has been in the conference for any
length of time. Sorry to burst your crimson bubble.
@ Chris BYou can come do my yard work for me while I watch college
football. If you do a good enough job, maybe I'll even give you a cookie.
@Chris BLet's use your logic to find the flaw in it--Colorado was invited to the PAC12 because it is super awesome at football for
the last decade!! Let's face the facts, invites weren't
based on quality programs, rather based on TV markets. Utah State
has been more successful than Colorado. They have been a bigger story
nationally than Utah has been for two years now thanks to Keaton's game at
Auburn. Keaton's first year was one where special teams miscues kept them
from their potential. Last year they fixed those problems and beat those they
were expected to beat such as Utah.I expect the Aggies are going to
be gunning down the Utes week one. They are angry. They are disciplined. They
are the better program, yet some people feel it wise to get them even more
focused on the game. That is never a wise proposition Chris, especially when
you are trying to represent yourself as a Ute fan. Your team graduated nearly
everyone who has scored touchdowns and half your D. USU is a fully-stocked
program. My predictionUSU 24 Utah 14
@Christy B: Funny how when you were in the MWC/WAC, all we would hear is that
the MWC was comparable to the PAC 10 and would relish any win showing that the U
could compete. Now that Utah has been chosen to be part of the PAC-10.2, all of
a sudden you forgot your roots. Karma Christy.
@EdGradyKeep on dreaming.
"Utah State has been more successful than Colorado."usu has
had fewer losing seasons than Colorado so they are more successful? Jarvis,
take off your goggles. usu lost their coach who only gave usu one good season,
but it was with a very weak schedule. A new coach always struggles. usu
hasn't beaten Utah at Utah in ages. Don't be so arrogant to say usu
is going to destroy them. Utah, even when bad, plays decent teams well at home.
usu will only be average next year. usu never proved under even Anderson they
can beat good teams on the road from so called "power conferences."
Won't happen under a first time coach. Colorado was only
invited because of Denver. Utah because of SLC. Both do have pretty good
education systems too. Why would the Big Ten invite Maryland? Awful in
football, but they have the D.C. market. Same situation with Colorado.
Don't sit here and compare usu to Colorado because you're doing it for
all the wrong reasons and you sound really uneducated by making up reasons.
StrikerSince your comment talks about education let me teach you
something. The school letters are USU not usu. We capitalize the letters
because they are proper nouns. They also represent Utah State University which
boasts top notch education for engineering, teacher education and agriculture.
USU is a better football program than Colorado. The point I was
making was that neither Utah nor Colorado were invited because of performance on
the football field.Yes USU has an new coach. That doesn't
matter since they have a highly experienced team and aren't changing
schemes. USU improved while the Utes lost too much of their talent. The only
thing Utah has in their favor for this year is that it is a home game. USU is
currently the better team.
"Yes USU has an new coach. That doesn't matter..."Stop
right there. That comment alone lets me know you don't follow football
well. The team has their best team ever and it won't make a difference
that HC is gone now, and playing in a new and tougher conference? A new HC
makes a HUGE difference, especially if it's a first time coach. Over the
last 15 years, I can think of about 10 teams in this situation and basically all
of them struggled, and they didn't even go to a new conference. To take a
recent example, in 2011, Southern Miss had that crazy game vs. Houston and
turned heads that season. Their coach went on and a new coach came in and went
winless last year. It's VERY rare for a first year coach to do
well. Hidalgo doesn't win if Frank Hopkins chooses to ride a black
stallion instead. Don't get cocky saying Utah will get destroyed at home to
open the season vs a team that hasn't won there in ages.
Thank you BYU fans for continually addressing Chris B and thinking that your
inspirational post will change his ways, yet it never does and you never quit
trying. FYI this article is neither about you or Chris so give it a rest. And
as for everyone's predictions, seriously....let the players decide on
gameday. Yeah we know Wells is a new coach. We've known that for awhile
now folks. Moving on, we Aggie fans are proud of of USU and glad to be a part
of the MWC.
An observation: As the competition rises, such the situation we see with both
Utah and USU, recruiting becomes the Holy Grail simply because injuries happen,
and the 2's have to be virtually equivalent to the 1's. Utah learned their lesson last year with the various O line and the QB
injuries. Seems like the odds are against a team without the necessary depth so
that when a 1 has to sit down, the replacement 2 can jump in and the team can
continue with very little loss in productivity.USU has a challenging
schedule, playing some of the Big Boys this year. Not to be negative, and not
to wish harm to anyone, but if there was anything for someone to "mark
down" it might be to check how the USU coaching staff will plan for and be
able to instantly replace any one (or more) of their several key players. We know they're thinking about it. Lets see how they cope with it
in real time on Game Day.
