Some of those arrests took place this week just down the street from my house.
To all the Law Enforcement Agencies involved I thank you!!! I know this required
a great deal of work and inter agency cooperation in order to make this happen.
Protect the border Barack!
Burying the lede in deference to political correctness, near the end, the story
states:"they said the heroin was linked to a Mexican drug
cartel."No one would say that all illegal aliens are drug
smugglers, but it seems that a lot of drug smugglers are illegal aliens. That
certainly justifies increased emphasis on securing our borders to stop the
scourge of drug trafficking.
Another great job by our law enforcement heroes! Way to go guys. Hey I gotta
great Idea. All the Cash that was seized should be split up and given to the
officers who made the bust. Now that's what I call Justice!
Educators and school law enforcement have informed parents and teachers that
youngsters head to Las Vegas from here in St. George to get "their"
Heroin, and "extra" to sell to others. These are children from families
of means with lots of money to spend.Could be one of the numerous reasons
why there is always so much of it heading into the United States by smugglers.
Well proof again these folks are just doing work Americans won't do
Isn't it amazing that people still take heroin, tobacco, marijuana, and
bath salts? The criminals were probably not too high up, but great work by our
law enforcement. I suspect a lot of police in some states are in the drug
The suggestion by law enforcement is that this bust will in a positive way
affect the lives of people with negative outcomes from using heroin (like
death). However, it is a leap in logic to assume that because there is less of
it available for addicts, that fewer addicts will use it. What the war on drugs
has taught us is that no matter how many drug busts the police make, as long as
there is demand, there will continue to be supply. And how can you really fight
demand when you threaten the addicts with criminal penalties for using heroin or
other illicit drugs? Addicts are less likely to come out of the shadows as long
as there are threats of criminal penalties for admitting their usage. So, while
busts like this look good, where is the link between these busts and improving
people's lives? A better public policy would be to follow Portugal's
lead: continue fighting supply, but decriminalize usage. In this way we can
fight and diminish demand and supply simultaneously and actually improve
This is all well and good, but you can't solve the drug addiction issue
from the supply side.
The problem with decriminalizing the drugs is that more use. I am involved in
criminal justice in Colorado and pot use among youngsters has jumped since
legalization for adults. Same thing would happen with legalizing more illicit
I am so happy for the excellent law enforcement we have in our communities,
state, and nation! These police officers deserve a pat on the back, a high
five, and our thank yous for their hard work! Police officers put
their lives on the line every day to protect the freedoms we hold dear. They
work hard to ensure that people who are dishonest, corrupt, and dealing in this
stuff are taken off the streets. They work hard to protect our
children and teenagers from these people. I hope they continue the great work!
Go up to a police officer sometime and tell them how much you
appreciate them. Maybe take a plate of cookies or some cards, or volunteer
sometime. Go up and see the new Public Service Building in Salt Lake City. Anyone who believes police officers just sit around, eat doughnuts, and
have nothing to do here because of the low crime rate are severely misguided.
Police officers are here to serve and protect the public. I am so
grateful and appreciative of their efforts and hard work! I will continue to
keep them in my thoughts and prayers!
This was a great job done by our law enforcement agencies. But from a former
drug user, the "90" pounds that was seized has already been replaced.
The drug problem in Utah is far larger than anyone is really accepting or
understanding. I commend the officers for the work done, and I wish that busts
like this would actually make the drug trade cease to be. But, they wont, these
busts will slow them down at most. Be mindful that there is a whole network
rooted deep here in the state that makes the illegal drug trade possible. I used
heroin for five and a half years and can tell you from experience that if there
is a ever a demand there will always be a supply. The illegal drug trade is a
plague that is ruining our families, our society from the inside out. I have
seen friends die, I have watched acquaintances drop like flies from my life. The
only way, and i mean this is the only way, to stop the drug trade is for the
addict to stop his/her use. Impossible as it may seem, it's the truth.
Again thank you to the officers involved.
