It doesn't matter how common traffic stops are, there is still no such
thing as a routine traffic stop. Treating the stop as routine is what's
gotten police officers and others shot or even killed. I really wish the media
would stop calling them routine stops. Just say "traffic stop."
Most traffic stops are not routine, they are driven by behavioral and irrational
driving or gun related. Will have to give the officer credit for his
restraint is not pursuing the vehicle and driver though, that took some common
sense reasoning talent.Routine stop would be people running a red
light, speeding, or improper right turn, or smoking car (emissions). When the
police do pull over a vehicle it has to be a cost effective reason to engage
driver behaviors. And DUI tickets are a billion dollar industry for city, state,
and federal budgets. One stop could net millions of dollars. A 30 dollar
speeding ticket is not cost effective use of police officers military training
and multimillion dollar armory.
Why would they tell someone to go out and investigate if they hear something
late at night, good case for kidnapping. If you hear something, look out your
windows and call the police. Do not go outside and put yourself in the way of
danger. Too bad this guy that was shot was out of jail, sounds like he should
of still been in prison.
