Chasen Andersen opts out of scholarship, will play at Wisconsin
Relying on freshman and JC newcomers who have never taken a D-1 snap to make
contribution in their first year is just hoping to be lucky.
If Anderson had stayed he would have been one of our better players but now that
he's moved on he will probably struggle.
Interesting Comments by Coach Mendenhall on Chasen Andersen. Did he imply BYU is
tougher than Wisconsin?Good Luck to BYU and see you at Camp Randall this
Coach Mendenhall claims BYU is tougher than Wisconsin?Andersen is a
walk-on at Wisconsin giving up a scholarship to BYU.HMMM! Looking
forward to BYU visiting Camp Randall in the fall and Good Luck to the players
following coach Mendenhall.
Some of you need to work on your reading comprehension. Bronco in no way implies
that BYU is better than Wisconsin. The fact is BYU holds its student athletes
to a higher standard than pretty much any institution in the country. With the
honor code, appearance policy, grade requirements, ect. BYU is definitely not a
fit for everyone, and it isn't supposed to be.. Say what you want about
Bronco not bringing home the big wins, but he does run the cleanest program in
the country. I would be proud if my son one day played for him.
Well, good luck to Chasen at Wisconsin. I hope it's not too late to give
the scholarship to someone else that can come in and make a difference on the
field, although it probably is at this point.
Bronco can give the scholarship to a deserving player who is currently a
non-scholarship player. When a walk on is rewarded with a scholarship it is a
great motivator for other walk on players to work hard. There a number of walk
on players who have become integral contributors to the Cougars success, i.e.
Whisky,Please show us where Bronco claimed BYU was tougher than Wisconsin?
I'm not sure what you read or maybe you are just trying to stir the pot.
What Bronco said is that he wanted to be with his dad. Try to keep up.
Andersen being a "walk-on" is not really the case. All faculty members
children's tuition is paid for at almost every institution. Even if
Wisconsin was an exception, Gary now has more than enough money to pay
Chasen's schooling. Essentially, Chasen just got a scholarship to
Wisconson. Comparing a sholarship at BYU (which is great) against another great
school and being with his dad....hard to compare there. I see the reasoning
behind his decision.
Logicalsportsanalyst,Don't follow your logic. His dad was hired at
Wisconsin prior to Chasen signing his LOI.
logicalsportsanalystBy definition, a walk-on is an athlete who
becomes part of a team without being awarded an ATHLETIC scholarship. This
results in the differentiation between "walk-on" players and
"scholarship" players. It has nothing to do with an athlete's
education being paid by some other means.
Andersen should never have been offered to begin with. Was there someone that
could have received that offer months ago who won't be there now?
@Real BassTalk about sour grapes losing a coach. He's gone and
on to better things with a better school. There is nothing you aggies can do
After Chasen told Bronco he was leaving, Bronco quickly slapped down some
limitations on where he could go play. He refused to allow Chasen to transfer
to any school that is on BYU's schedule in the near future.Oh,
wait. He didn't do that? He let him go without limitations?Huh. A
glimpse of what amateur athletics is REALLY supposed to look like.
