Too bad. When budgets, deficits and debt stop being a bludgeon to beat poor
people over the head with and start being a thorn in your shoe instead,
that's when the rubber meets the road.Oh, my heavens, they are
going to cut funding for military contractors in my district? No no, can't
have that. Oh my heavens, they are going to cut FAA funding so my local airstrip
is shut down, and major airports will have delays? Oh no, no no no, can't
have that.Yeah. When it's other people benefiting from
government spending, they are lazy and immoral. But when it's the
"shiz" that we like that is getting cut, oh heaven forbid.
Senator Mike Lee has voted against every item President Obama has suggested. Do
you think the cutting of the funding of this vital water project has anything to
do with the actions of Senator Lee? Remember, "what goes round, comes
I guess the state will have to quit mooching off the federal government and pay
for this. Cry me a river tea party Utah Republicans. Government money is
always ok if it's spent on you, right?
Obama has to fund his european trip somehow.
You're probably right Dixie Dan, that Obama could care less about Utah. So
what do you want, a couple of Democrat Senators to lick his boots for money?
Cut spending. Isn't that exactly what Utah's GOP and Tea Party have
been calling for?Cut spending. But not in anything that
might affect ME.The Utah Conservative Entitlement Mentality is hard
at work.If it wasn't so pathetic, it would be funny.
This must be why so many cities are starting to declare water shortages and
restrictions of use in the Wasatch front cities. The CUP was killed by Utah
legislators 50 years ago and some how convinced the feds to abet the bond
homeowners have been paying 50 years as the project sat dead all this time. With
an open ended active bond who's funds have been misdirected for 50 years,
where is the hundreds of millions of dollars taxes collected from homeowners for
this project over the last 50 years the CUP has been sidelined? The
CUP has been a fraud and Utah has never had any intention of completing this
project so where have all the federal funds been misappropriated by lies gone
to?I doubt the EPA studies of 50 years ago are still valid and the
Colorado is a declining resource that would be challenged by Colorado, Nevada,
Arizona, Mexico, and California if it was really still a work in progress
project. The CUP was never in progress, so where did the money go?
If we, the citizens of Utah, need this water so badly, maybe we ought to fund it
ourselves and forgo a new events center in SLC, or more trax lines, or moving
the prison to make money for developer friends of the legislature. We can
afford anything we want to afford.I agree that we look at federal
money as "free" money and maybe it's time we decided what our needs
are and fund those needs, and forgo our wants for a while.
You'd think that sooner or later the governor and his "forward"
bunch would wake up and figure out that when you slow dance with the Feds, all
you get is your toes stepped on.
the CUP has been around since the 1970s, if not earlier, and congressman Wayne
Owens (D) fought against it. thanks dems for consistently fighting against
Utah's greater good.
