Winder is power crazy. The 84118 code encompasses many jurisdictions besides
West valley City. it includes Taylorsville and Kearns which in part of Salt
Lake County. The other codes are probably similar and are not exclusively West
Valley City. West Valley City has historically adsorbed those areas where there
has been business activity into their boundaries as part of a money grab,
resulting in areas like Kearns not having these properties to offset there
costs. Our representatives should not acquiesce to this proposal
unless the zip codes are exclusively within West Valley City.
Considering that 'West Valley City' didn't actually have a city
name when it was incorporated and thus became 'West Valley City,'
perhaps they ought to have a formal city-naming contest. I would suggest
'Gruntersville' since it was carved out of Granger Hunter and the then
Taylorsville. Back in the day, for a while when some folks were attempting to
get the vote to incorporate, I actually had my check addresses listed as in
Yawn. Pretty much all of Salt Lake County is Salt Lake City. Put your Sandy or
Draper address on your EBay, and list the city as Salt Lake City, and guess
what? You are still gonna get it. Get over it. There is not enough of a
True that, Zaruski. As much as we like to think of ourselves as living in
separate cities, to the rest of the world this is all just 'Salt Lake
City'. But we shouldn't feel bad. The same is true for any major
urban area. Come on, be honest; how often do you think of Southern California
as just 'Los Angeles'?
My zip code is 84107, which says I am in Murray. But I live in Millcreek
Township. I use Salt Lake City as my address. This game by West Valley is much
ado about nothing. Surely, with all the problems West Valley City has had
recently, they can find something much more productive to do.
Interesting that a mayor in this very republican state advocate for a change
from the Postal Service that will COST $! Changing machinery, computers,
letterhead, etc. Winder is demanding WVC be recognized at what cost?
Where's the offset? Surprised that GOP Lee supports this. Hypocritical.
