The 2012 election was mainly concerning the economy...and it is getting better.
of course he is, he has to play to his base no matter how far out in right field
they get. Its sad when even Ron Paul calls you to far to the right.
Jason Chaffetz is over the top. Normally, that would not be a problem, but since
he's a member of the House of Representatives, it kind of is.
Jason just drilled another one right through the uprights. Go Jason!
Jason needs to be impeached!!
To keep talking about impeachment -- even if to only deny you are thinking about
impeachment -- makes you look a fool. You can assume anything you like about
Obama's knowledge or role in various scandals but so far I have seen
absolutely no proof of his personal knowledge or involvement.
And that is why Jason Chaffetz will not be receiving my vote.
#1 goal of Republicans: Take down Obama in any way possible.#2 goal of
As we learned with Clinton. Impeachment means nothing, and the American people
can't understand right, and wrong.
Why does Pres. always get a pass by so many, giving him "Teflon" effect?
Is he really accountable for nothing?
The most dangerous position in the world is to get between chaffetz and a
This from a guy who released classified information improperly. This from a guy
who repeated false interpretations of the white house emails regarding Ben
Ghazi. This from a guy who was a key participant in a congressional hearing
that went no where other than to incite a backlash that will probably help
Hillary's presidential bid.
Chaffetz is digging his own grave. Somehow I guess he doesn't understand
the saying speak softly but carry a big stick. Boehner is absolutely right on
this one. The truth will come out but it will take time, as it always does.
Chaffetz is trying to make himself into a somebody from a nobody, and this is
not the way to do it. I can't help but feel he is putting all his chips on
one hand, one that is far from secure, perhaps because he's willing to walk
away if it doesn't work out. Could be a black eye for him and for the
state of Utah, BYU, NCAA kickers, etc. if he is not correct. Just go about your
business Jason and you will do well. Actions speak much louder than words.
Nevermind that he probably idolizes Reagan who had weapons sold to a state
sponsor of terror (Iran) so he could do an end around from legislative blockade
so he could fund the Contras. That's way worse than anything Obama has done
and Reagan wasn't impeached.
I am conservative. But the last thing we need now is more partisan politics.
Too many important pieces of legislation are on the table that require both
sides to compromise. Remember compromise, back when our government functioned?
I think taking impeachment off the table would be wrong as well..... but that
is like discussing the death penalty as an option before the case has even been
made. Sure its an option, but it may be completely inappropriate as well. At
this point, the term seems to be being thrown around in political terms
though... and even the Republican leadership is worrying about those who are
debating the punishment before finding out what crime has been committed. No more was Reagan impeached for Oliver North's rogue actions -
selling weapons to Iran to fund the Sandinistas in a covert war in Nicaragua -
completely outside the law. How one can make this case that even if Obama had
knowledge of the IRS scandal does this surmount selling the Iranians weapons...
America's worst enemy for the last 3 decade. If Reagan
wasn't impeached over that incident... I would love to hear how this, if
true, is a higher crime then selling your enemy weapons.... and funneling the
money through drug transactions to fund a covert war.@Ralph.... very
funny.... at least under Reagan they had a plan. Starting with Newt... that
plan has been missing.
Obama is never around when anything happens; that way, he can always claim he
didn't know about anything and won't be found responsible for
anything. I don't know who is running the country but it sure isn't
Obama. He is busy campaigning for 2014, when he plans to take the election using
every underhanded trick in the book, just as he and his party, and whoever is
behind him, did in 2012. Most people won't have a clue about it, and
won't care even if someone does manage to start impeachment proceedings.
The country has been slowly, carefully turned to the ultra-liberal progressive
mindset, and that is probably going to prevail until enough people are fed up
with it to stand up and be counted. Unfortunately, so much has already been
subdued by the liberals that it isn't likely to matter. Soon, the
government will be in control of so much of our daily lives that what we think
or want simply won't matter. If you go back through Obama's speeches
and interviews, he told us he would do this, and we let him, no, we HELPED him.
If any citizen tried to get away with our current administration and many in
congress are doing, he'd be in prison. Justice does not exist in this
country! We are the laughing stock of the world. Back in the 80's a U.S.
teen was caught doing graffiti in the Philippines. The U.S. asked them to
return him unscathed and they would take care of the matter. The Philippine
government just laughed at the idea, caned the kid, then sent him home. He was
later caught doing graffiti in his home town. Do you think he'd ever think
of doing graffiti again in the Philippines?
I believe Mr. Chaffets is right in keeping the impeachment on the table if for
no other reason than to keep pressure on the administration to answer for their
actions. If it is left up to the administration, all they have to do is delay
the investigation until after the term of Presidency is over. They need to dig
now while it still matters to our nation and this administration. If no fault is
found then and only then do you remove the call for impeachment. But please get
to the facts. We have a right to know what really did happen.
Someone needs to speak truth here. This rush to the middle to gain votes has
turned the GOP into Democrat-Lite.The Gang of Eight is proof that even
so-called conservatives (Flake, Rubio) can't seem to follow the GOP
platform.Jason is willing to step out of the box and use a little candor.
At least you know where he stands. With Congress showing approval ratings
in the low teens can he do any worse than his colleagues?
I love Reagan!! I would take him any day over dictator Obama.
This is just Obama's political Chicago Dirty Tricks machine trying to
discredit anyone who opposes THE ONE
Go Jason! Obama has been slick so far keeping his fingerprints off of anything
but an old saying sticks to him and that is a fish rots from the head down. I am
convinced that Obama and his administration are lying through their teeth on
these scandals. I hope that is proven and I would relish impeachmnet.Go Jason!
Sure he's not! The work "impeachment" keeps him in the headlines.
That's what he wants! He's developing real skills for his future
political career. Reagan was the "Great Communicator", Chaffetz is
hoping to be the "Great Grandstander"
President Nixon's close advisors went down before he did and one by one
they fell into disgrace. Some changed their attitude but others were defiant to
the end. When you are not honest with the people you work with and try to get
around the documents and laws that govern our country and impose new laws that
cost plenty of dollars and no sense just to be passing laws is not govern. He
is handed a golden platter of a peace prize before he even attempted to govern.
He knows how to issue promises to voters but hasn't realized he has to
govern in order for those to really have effect. He messed with his own
Party's domination of the Congress and lost in the House where the
districts have new elections every 2 years and is the House to protect common
everyday citizens. Those Representatives are held closer to accountability, not
like the Senate who are supposed to be Statesman like but have changed to almost
the House of Lords in England with power, fame, and glory. Senator Bennett
learned he had a movement at the right time to thwart his 18-year effort to stay
"#1 goal of Republicans: Take down Obama in any way possible.#2 goal
of Republicans: Huh?"Actually, the #1 goal of Republicans is to
help America become the great country we all hope it to be. But I understand
your confusion since the steps to making America great usually involves stopping
Obama. Excuse us for not buying into propaganda so easily. A whole nation was
gypped by it in the 1930's.
This country doesn't hold its leaders accountable. It's leading to
If he is talking impeachment now, before the facts have come out, he isn't
interested in truth, or justice, or the will of the people. He is selective and
highly partisan in his principles, ignoring the abuses of the prior
Administration (need we list them, things that are as bad if not worse than what
we are seeing here?). I am fine with policy differences, but I am sick and
tired of the constant, persistent undermining of the President for purely
political games by the right wing. Case in point is their long standing
complaints about a budget not being passed by the Senate, and now they
(including our own Tea Party Sen. Lee) are doing everything they can to stop the
democratic process and the passage of a budget. When will Chaffetz and the rest
of the disloyal opposition start putting America first instead of opposing
everything that the President seeks, even when the idea is that of the GOP? The
right wing is not patriotic. They put their interests first, even at the
jeopardy of the Consitution and the will of the people. I'm fed up!
Whether impeachment is on or off the table, it is in the Constitution which
means it is always at the disposal of Congress. Impeachment is a tool the
framers of the Government left to posterity to use as good judgment deemed
appropriate and warranted.Part of the unfortunate legacy of
Watergate has been to make impeachment of a President something to threaten
willy-nilly towards a political foe. Our political discourse in America has
become so raw that rhetorical overkill is now the norm. I’m not real
familiar with Jason Chaffetz but his loose talk in recent days is making him
sound more like a self-promoter than a public servant.
As a Republican I feel that Chaffetz is an embarrassment to our state and to the
party. Very few in DC will take him seriously.
ESQUIRE I second your comments. Let's say Obama is impeached. The Senate
is the trial court. No doubt a Democrat controlled senate will convict Obama.
If you believe that I have some real estate for you.
Our country needs to hear the truth. When we have our guys in
Washington who feel like they are getting the run around and we clearly know
even less. Also, the press isn't telling the whole story.Thank
goodness that Jason is trying to hold Obama accountable.Keep it up
Jason! I'm with you all day long! You have my vote and support.Drop the hammer on all the crooks and liars you can find.
Grandstanding for votes.....and it works in his district.
I don't expect many of Obama's administration to talk unless a special
prosecutor is appointed. Holder's justice department won't prosecute
anyone who is a "team player".If the various employees that
are covering up are threatened with jail time - they'll talk. The only bad thing about impeachment is - Joe Biden.Yes, things
could be worse!
@worfYou are at least partially right enough Americans apparently do
not know enough about right and wrong as to allow someone like Chavez and Newt
Gingrich to continue to try to rip our country apart. Luckly it appears enough
Amercians still remember Gingrich's antics to keep Chavez in the minority.
Jason, please keep applying the heat. This is the most corrupt administration
ever and it is time someone stood up to them. I am grateful that you are doing
your best to hold them accountable.
Jason Chaffetz is right but he is "spitting into the wind". As a Navy
Vietnam era vet, you can sense the mood in Washington which is akin to the day
that the last choppers went into Saigon to pull out as many as possible before
the North Vietnamese came into the city. It would now appear that there is a
consolidation of power going on. Vladimir Putin said that it was the
"Illiterates". I would say that it is the entitled. It is all about
"redistribution of wealth". All that Jason Chaffetz can do is the
"Paul Revere thing". However, the left wing agenda has organized
religion in its sights. Mormons, Catholics, Lutherans, are at risk.
Lied about Benghazi attack because of potential impacts to electionIRS
targets conservative groups (White House staff knows about it and does
nothing)Unmanned drones targeting US CitizensDept of Justice
wiretaps the Associated PressThe list of crud that we have to deal
with is becoming unbearable. And then there are those that think that Chaffetz
is too extreme? He seems to be the only one that isn't okay with what the
executive branch is getting away with.
Thankfully the only 36 people in all of Utah and Idaho who support government
corruption and loathe patriotic Americans are here in this comment section.
Ron Paul is "irrelevant".
Jason is making a name for himself...just paying a high priceNow
anytime someone on the hill has an axe to grind they can go to the man who will
not be put off...of cameras anyway.Jason would like to be seen as
executioner it seems. What about doing something that has been
approved by voters already and would help your constituents, such as... doing
away with the department of energy, something your party promised they would
do...they still can. Lump in the department of education and in no time your
constituents would re-elect you.Instead of being the kicker you are
now a member of the band, I for one am sorry to see that change.
And that is why Jason Chaffetz will be receiving my vote.
@NeilT, I am not suggesting that Obama will be impeached by the House (nor
should he), and he surely would never be convicted by the Senate. I will say
that the GOP has cheapened the Constitution and perverted it to use as a
political weapon. They spit on the principles on which this nation was built.
They have done nothing the past five years but tried to stop a duly elected
leader from doing anything because they are bitter that the people chose this
President. The same happened to Clinton (albeit to a lesser degree), proving
that the GOP can't accept the will of the people that they are sworn to
represent. I despise what is going on in our government and the public
discourse, the ill-will, the obstruction, the invective. The Tea Party rose up
as a reaction to the dysfunction in Washington, but their rile is misdirected
and has itself become partisan and contributes to the very problem against which
they protest. They are being used by cunning and deceitful people, and they
don't even realize it. But what we are seeing should have arisen in the
prior Administration, so what does that tell us?
Tim Hagle should realize that more and more Americans want impeachment. Boehner
wants more time. We of course to not simply because it will give this
administration that time to doctor records, destroy records or lose records that
support impeachment. The fact is, no one trusts this government, especially this
administration any longer. We shouldn't even trust the DHS (our secret
police organization that is the same as Stasi, Revolutionary Guards and KGB and
Gestapo). Since when do we need this department? We have police we have national
guard. Given the myriad of scandals yes, Obama should be impeached along with
Biden. Both know what's going on.
thankful for people like mr. chaffetz. the IRS shouldn't have the power
to destroy us. TIME FOR A CHANGE! GO GO GO CHAFFETZ and others fighting for the
If Mr. Chaffetz were talking about his own impeachment, I would be all for it!
I think that the liberals who have commented so far didn't read the
article. Chaffetz is not pushing Impeachment, nor has he been doing so during
the investigation. He is trying to get to the bottom of things to find out why
there was such a huge failure. It is the press that keeps asking about
impeachment, which the article demonstrates when it said that Chaffetz was
asked about impeachment. It was not something that he brought up.To
"Esquire" how is investigating a web of lies that the WH is involved in
cheapening the Constitution. If anything not investigating and not prosecuting
those responsible will cheapen and do more damage than an impeachment will ever
do. If WaterGate had happened today, would you want a full investigation, or
would you have been satisfied with the Nixon saying that he didn't do
anything wrong? This situation is shaping up eerily like WaterGate.
30 years from now, Chaffetz will be the McCarthy of our era. That's good
mark to hold in history... right? You go Jason!
Let's just impeach Jason.
When you say Obama caused the economic downturn the day he takes office and then
claim he is not a citizen, it gets hard to listen to you.
The President is King, Tyrant, and Monarch in a "Constitutional
Dictatorship" in the service of the Banksters, as per in Section 1 of Title
I of the Act: "The actions, regulations, rules, licenses, orders and
proclamations heretofore or hereinafter taken, promulgated, made, or issued by
the President of the United States or the Secretary of the Treasury, pursuant to
the authority conferred by subdivision (b) of section 5 of the Act of October 6,
1917, as amended, are hereby approved and confirmed. This means that
anything the President wants to do (as a puppet for his bosses, the FR / IMF
Bankers) is "approved and confirmed" automatically, in advance
("hereinafter") and backed by the full force, effect, and power of the
"Government." (Title 12 USC 95(a)) Chaffetz is either
ignorant to what is really happening or he is one of the Gadianton Robbers, who
has taken the oath of the Secret Combination. Wake up Brothers and Sisters. Go watch the Wizard of Oz, with Michael Jackson and Diana Ross. Nothing
is as it seems.
To: cns - you first must open your eyes and mind to be able to see what is going
on. Obama counts on people to think just the way you do and is hoping it will
dissipate soon and there will be accountability for him...he is repsonsible and
should be man enough to stand up and admit...but so far...he continues to dodge
the truth but it will catch up with him and it will be over hopefully.
one old man:Give some reason why Obama shouldn't be impeached.
What has he done for the country? Speak up!
I commend Jason Chaffetz, and Mike Lee for all their efforts in all they do,
they truly are men of values and morals. Its obvious some people cannot see what
is in the White House.. I feel sorry for them! I also commend Senator Cruz..
anyone who cannot see that this country is about to implode is sadly blind! I
believe Chaffetz and Lee are the best of the best in Utah!
"Give some reason why Obama shouldn't be impeached. What has he done
for the country? Speak up!"Because doing nothing for this
country is not an impeachable offense. If you don't like how someone is
running the country, you vote them out next time. Its a matter of a little
thing called the law. Just because you don't like someone doesn't
mean you can impeach them... ask Newt.... wasted a whole lot of time and the
nations money and the only who came out looking bad was Newt. As

IRS being out of control is a real problem... a black mark on his presidency.
But neither is he all satin, nor all saint. I sometime wonder if rational
thought and balance is a lost art... replaced by hate media and it followers.
There will always be politicians who are demagogues -those who appeal to
emotions and prejudices - and followers who are manipulated by them. But,
Chaffetz' act is too extreme to do more than console fellow travelers. He
does not have a political future beyond a House seat from Utah.Certainly, most Americans know President Obama has made no major mistakes and
there are no grounds for impeaching him.

I'm voting for Redshirt and Worf. They get it.Bring Jason to
my pathetic state. We need more cowboys and straight shooters. He'll
never win a majority here, but the fight will be honest and darn exciting.
Darrell Issa (R-CA) needs back/up, the OK Corral kind.Read the
article and stay on topic: Mr. Chaffetz isn't removing the option. Prez O
can talk his way through a brick wall but he is clueless about every scandal and
tragedy under his watch. That's what happens when you spend your college
years with his choice of recreation and his political career as a community
organizer. America got what if asked for. No let's take it back, or die
Congressman Chaffetz has proven the importance of looking into Benghazi given
the number of whistleblowers that have come forward. Where there is smoke there
is fire and the smoke is beginning to pour out of Washington DC.
Congratulations Jason for your great work. You continue to have the support of
the people of the Great State of Utah, especially given the illogical rage shown
by the extreme left anytime an article is written about a politician attempting
to uphold the Constitution!
Worf... it is evident that it is pointless to discuss facts.... when all you
want to hear is politically driven talking points. Yes, ND is coming on
line.... but that is just a small portion of the total portfolio of reserves
being exploited right now. Even Texas is pumping more than it did a decade
ago- same could be said for Oklahoma, the gulf, and PA. As to your
comments about the Obama administration not getting credit for Sadam... it is
amazing he is responsible for the IRS when they do things wrong, for the state
department when they edit talking points on Libya, and yet don't get any
credit - none- for getting Sadam. How does that work? You get
to pick and choose which facts suit your own personal narrative....And tell me... how many families had to be told their loved ones were killed
on Iraqi soil over the last 12 months... how many? Lets flash back 5 years, and
compare. It blows me away how hate for someone lets so much get
tainted. I do agree the recent "scandals" need to be looked into...
but to pretend nothing has gone right..... good grief!
The President each day seems to have some new tactic to get around talking about
the important events of the day. He should pull out President Nixon's play
book and see what diversionary tactic or strategy he should use for tomorrow or
even today. Pawns will fall and really don't want to spend time in
detention or in prison with other inmates that may have an agenda against these
people. An IRS agent in jail would not be a pretty site as some people are in
jail for items that pertain to the IRS or that type of system. The DEA may
arrest people for drug running and the money those arrested may not have been
taxed, for sure. It would not be good for many people to share cells or
environments such as the lunch room, together. The higher ups in President
Nixon's time went one by one. When Spiro T. Agnew went for an unrelated
issue, it sort of started falling into place. President Nixon lost his man to
fend off topics of the day. Spiro was a Joe Biden of the day that deflected the
ball to give the President another day. AG next?
UtahBlueDevil,I presume that since you are willing to credit Obama
for all those accomplishments you say he is responsible for, then by your same
logic of picking and choosing facts, you are also completely willing to hold him
responsible for all these scandals? That includes knowing Benghazi was being
attacked and telling the reinforcements to stand down. Well?I love
how people try to compare the Iraq war to Benghazi. There is a huge difference:
a lot of good came from the Iraq war (ask soldiers who served there, not the
mainstream media that misrepresented everything; Saddam Hussein was ousted, Iraq
became a democratic free nation, the people were saved from tyranny, etc.).On the other hand, nothing good came from Benghazi! That is why the
liberals and the media are trying with all their might to cover it up and draw
attention away from it (Squirrel!). It seems no matter what Obama does, he will
be seen as the Savior. If you want to refute my point, please give an example of
something Obama did that did not receive a lot of support from the democrats.
They even love him when he raises their taxes!
The Des News must love these stories. It only aids in stirring the pot and
polarizing political views. This type of talk from a naive politician is just
that, talk which will come back to haunt him and he will regret it.
@Riverton CougarI have to say not one of your points is supported by
If he is so obsessed with rooting out corruption and cover-ups, and facilitating
an impeachment, Chaffetz should get himself back to Utah and take care of
business here. We've got plenty to keep him busy right here at home.
"This situation is shaping up eerily like WaterGate."This
"situation" is nothing like watergate, except in the fevered
imaginations of the right wing radio hacks and the gullible that parrot them.
"you first must open your eyes and mind to be able to see what
is going on"Uh. . . Yes. But while you are at it why don't
you do a little honest research on the issues? And believe me, just
regurgitating what the right wing commentators are blathering about is not
research. If you listen to Hanitty or Beck or Limbaugh and do no other research
you are terribly misinformed. "Give some reason why Obama
shouldn't be impeached."Because he has done nothing that is
even close to being an impeachable offense. "Its obvious some
people cannot see what is in the White House.. I feel sorry for them!"You feel sorry for them. Why? Because they are obviously better informed
then you? "Bring Jason to my pathetic state."Oh
yes, please do!""No let's take it back, or die
trying."What's this? Another call for violent revolution?
There is a word for that. Treason.
It is amazing to see people in denial like President Nixon was for two years.
It finally wore his people down and even though it was hard on the country, if
you can't trust the man at the top that is what Congress is for. The House
of Representatives with two year tours have the largest number and are the most
likely not to be in the beltway mentality in all cases. That doesn't apply
to Pelosi who has been a beltway person forever. The process to get this
through will take years if the entrenched people don't start falling from
the pressure and their consciences. In countries, including Syria, Iraq, Libya
and others, the leaders never give in that they are corrupt and beyond their
conscience. They cause disruption and bring their country down. We supposedly
have a system where citizens count if they want to be counted. The three
branches are made to be independent as they work together. They do not want to
work together these days, at least very much.Eventually, the
Representatives and Senators will be up for election and will have to decide
which side of the fence they are on.
"@Riverton CougarI have to say not one of your points is
supported by the facts."Says the man who doesn't provide
any evidence to support his points. For facts about Benghazi, see the
testimonies in the hearings. As far as Iraq, I really hope you know that
everything I said was true. Or did you not know that Saddam Hussein is no longer
in power?Which of my points exactly are not supported by facts?
I'm pretty sure Iraq is a democratic, free nation now. Kicks testified that
they were told to stand down.I even said "If you want to refute
my point, please give an example of something Obama did that did not receive a
lot of support from the democrats." How do you respond? Certainly not with
facts. Please try again, ronnie. 200 words isn't enough to go
into detail about all my points, so I just provided where to find the facts for
yourself. All you can do is say "not one of your points is supported by the
facts", which just seems silly considering that much of the stuff I talked
about was common knowledge.
The Republicans have been trying to impeach President Obama since 1/20/2009.Why stop now?
Jason Chaffetz has truly annoyed and got under the skin of the ruling elite. He
has intelligently and skillfully asked questions the mainstream media refuses to
ask. As a long time DC observer and participant in political campaigns I would
give Jason an A on his report card. MSNBC a surrogate for the Obama campaign
utterly detests him as does NBC, CBS, and ABC so he is obviously succeeding.
Utah is well represented by Congressman Chaffetz.
"On the other hand, nothing good came from Benghazi!"Ok....
one of these things was a war.... and the other was an individual event within a
wider event. We could play that game for ever. I can name a hundreds of
"events" in Iraq that you can safely say nothing good came of it. And if you really want to be honest in your analysis... if you look
where Libra is at this time after the over throw of its dictator, to the
stability of where Iraq was at the same time.... please don't even begin to
say Iraq was in a better state 18 months than is Libya. The cost in human lives
alone does not even come close to comparing. So if you are going to
try to compare events... lets compare like events. One attack does not equal
and entire war.... and no, I have not excused, or accused any one
yet on any of these events.... because all the facts are not in yet - at all.
Just this weekend NewsCorp - FoxNews parent company - admitted they knew of the
