Hire Popovich, he get more out of less talent than any coach in the NBA...and
how many NBA titles has he won? he could get another this year, no Lakers, no
Celtics, no team who is going to dominate the Spurs. My one big
criticism of Corbin is why he kept starting Williams at small forward, he was
worthless, should have been traded for anybody and a bag of beans.
"otters done quit making beavers", old man Sharp used to say and he is
still right. Every Coach makes mistakes. My problem with Corbin is he don't
seem to learn from his. Comparing win loss records is no way to judge a Coach.
Look at what he or she did with what they had to work with. Dumping on the
current roster is bull. Watch what happens when the free agent period hits and
then talk abut the current roster.
I disagree. Corbin has been horrible. Corbin failed to make basic game time
moves that even I as a non-coach can see. It took him over a season to
recognize that he needed to make offense/defense subsitutions down the stretch.
It took him over a season to see that Earl Watson is no longer a viable point
guard option. The list goes on and on.
I agree with RBN..Latest news is Jazz are hiring Sloan as a consultant..This way
they can safely dump Corbin at the trade deadline. Thing is Corbin had a much
better team to work with starting out than Sloan did..
If Hornacek gets to go somewhere...anywhere... it will be great for the Jazz.He was the shooting assistant who had the team shooting last in the NBA
for 2 years.Sloan chose not to hire him even though he coached him,
watched him tutored him and right now I would say Sloan is a better coach than
Corbin. He let Hornacek hang around in a conciliatory role and he would not
hire him. There is a reason and that is Jeff is mediocre at best on a good
day.Is anyone after Adrian Dantley to be a head coach? He played
great and put up more points than Jeff and yet he cannot coach and Sloan
recognized Jeff was blessed with the same inability.Ronnie, Raja,
CJ...the list goes on and on. Every single one of them and more had shot better
before they came to Utah and before Jeff coached them on their shooting. He was a great asset but as a coach he ranks up there with Dantley and
Jordan. If someone takes him we will all be fortunate,
Corbin is adequate. However, he just does not have the skill to take them to the
next level. He has to be a leader instead of a follower. He just has to stop
being one of the bois. Ray Meyer didn't teach him that way at DePaul. That
style worked for Magic Johnson. However, that was an unusual situation with a
Hall of Famer.
Doug 10,Who was Sloan going to get rid of if he wanted to hire
Horny? Sloan's a loyal guy, and he wasn't going to tell Phil, Ty or
Scott (Layden) to hit the road. I don't think you can read what Sloan
thought of Horny as a coach by his failure to hire him.Similarly, as
a shooting coach you may only be as good as the players the team drafts, and the
player's willingness to incorporate what the shooting coach teaches. That said, the jury is still out on whether Horny can coach.
@Dumprakefirst of all....Popovich is loyal to his team...and has
said that if Tim was to retire...he would to....so we wont be able to get
Pop....Frank Vogel and Tom Thibodeau...are the better coaches in the league
right now...i'd go with Rick Adelman next....and Since i doubt Indiana and
Chicago would change coaches any time soon...Adelman is the best
option....followed by Mcmillan and Gentry
I think Corbin deserves one more year! If the Jazz fail to make the playoffs
then replace him! I think after 3 1/2 years he has had his chance!
More evidence of the total cluelessness of Jazz management. As others have said
Corbin is horrible and the excuses people make for him get very old. In any
other market the media would of crucified him for mistakes a high school coach
shouldn't be making. The lap dogs in the Salt Lake media just continue to
make excuses for him. The rest of the NBA sees ability that Horney has but we
are going to lose him and be stuck with Corbin. Well guess what Jazz, Corbin
stays and I'm not renewing my season tickets.
