Mitt's family pays buku taxes. So this is a good thing for the State or anybody with kids in Utah Schools.

I can't see anything negative in his family moving back to Utah (even for a short time). But I'm sure somebody out there will find a way to spin it towards the negative.

It's good to have him back. I wish him nothing but the best. For the country it is unfortunate that he is not sitting in the White House rather than it's current occupier. Romney would have done much good than who we have now. Wish there was a push for a nationwide recount.

    Dear Mitt:

Welcome home. We're happy to have you.

    ===========

Mitt was born and raised in Michigan.
And has lived in Massachucetts since 1975.

He has only been a "resident" of Utah once in his life, 1999 - April 2000,
and only did so to get a $54,000 tax break on his house in Park City, Utah by stating it as his "primary residence".

And he STILL had to fight, deny and legally challenge that, since it disqualified him from running for Governor of Massachucetts in 2002.

    Utah, Home?
Hardly - it's just another vacation house for tax evasion.
Just like his house in [LaJolla] SanDiego, CA.

I doubt Mitt is positioning himself for Congress. All they do is talk, posture, argue and spend. Mitt is a leader, not a talker. He'd make a TERRIBLE Senator.

Governors rarely transition to Congress. Same goes for successful business leaders. They're too used to leading to just go out and do the party's bidding and waste time talking endlessly.

We do need to find somebody to replace Senator Hatch though... any ideas?

    Irony Guy
Your attempts to smear people with stuff you KNOW isn't true never ceases to amaze me. You must live your life in a world of political stereotypes (and really believe them).

You say Mitt pays no taxes. Every person knows Mitt pays a huge amount in taxes. It may not be a high enough percentage for your likeing, but it's every cent our current tax law requires.

His 2011 tax returns were made public. He paid $1,935,708 in income taxes. You call that paying no taxes? His effective tax rate was 14.1%. I agree that's very low. But it's hardly "no taxes".

You may also be shocked to learn that Mitt donates a lot to charity... Mitt donated 29% of his income to charity in 2011 ($4 Million). Obama donated a miserly 1% of his income to charity from 2000-2007 (total $10,772). Your hero Joe Biden donated 0.3$ of his income to charity the 10 years leading up to the 2008 election.

You can smear Mitt with your false statements (and I'm sure some nuts will believe you) but political stereotypes are not truth.

With all the bad things happening in D.C. I guess Romney should be glad he didn't win. After all, the Obama people say they had nothing to do with any of it, so it should be obvious that Mitt would have had Benghazi, and the IRS scandle, and spying on the press, ect. All this stuff would have happened to President Romney just as they did to President Obama. Amazing how the person with the most responsiblity has so many dogs eating his homework. "....the White House dogs name should be changed to Checkers". (Dennis Miller).

Welcome back to Utah Mitt! You will love living there! The best citizens and the best university (BYU) resides there. Consider teaching at BYU. I am sure BYU would want you! Also consider using your political and leadership experience to continue helping the United States with their political problems. Don't get out of politics because of Obama. The United States of America needs you! It is hard, but you can do it. Don't give up on this!

Does anyone truly care where they live? It is wonderful what he did with the Olymics but I would guess that most Utahns do not relate to them with the money they have, multiple homes, lifestyle, and circles they run in.

  • Pops NORTH SALT LAKE, UT

I'm glad to welcome the Romneys to Utah. They're wonderful people - I would love to have them as neighbors!

I bet Mitt does know how to hold a hammer. Seriously, people, he's a regular guy who happens to have a large bank account. And by having others build his house, it increases employment and boosts the local economy. Would you prefer that he take his money somewhere else?

A lot of people fail to recognize what a sacrifice it was for them to have Mitt run for the presidency, both financial and personal. They don't deserve the smearing and hate that was directed toward them (and which apparently will never end). Do you ever wonder why most decent people won't run for office? It should be obvious. Why would any decent person want to subject themselves and their loved ones to the lies and hate? If we don't change the tone of things, we're going to get the government we deserve and it isn't going to be pleasant.

    Wrong.

Jon Hunstman, Jr, unlike his father, lacks a spine and a moral compass. The 2012 campaign proved that: "Governor Huntsman, are you a Mormon?" Governor: "Uhhh......"

Is his not being able to build his own house (and having to pay some to do it) supposed to be an insult to him?

    I don't understand what you're getting at.

Having Mitt and Ann up here in January and then having either of them rushed to the Hospital due to the Northern Utah's notorious Winter Inversion layer will shame the powers-that-be into getting off the dime to solve Utah's seasonal air quality problem. I'd also like to eventually sell my $ million plus cracker box house in SoCal and retire up there too.
