I commend the Salem Police Chief for having his entire police force CIT trained & encourage every police officer to get CIT trained. What a difference this training makes. NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) has fostered this program to help police understand mental illness and the people suffering from these brain diseases.
I am encouraged to read of the de-escalation techniques, less use of guns & tasers. Congratulations to the officers who have completed this program!
