I first came to know Cal Bingham as a wrestling coach some 25 years ago. He is
a class guy, great story Amy!
Also, I want to say some nice things about Coach Taylor of Grantsville, this is
way cool. And again, all the best to Coach Bingham and his family.
Amy, thank you for the article about two great coaches. I have been privileged
to call Cal my friend for 30 years. From my own days of umpiring both teams in
high school softball I can attest to the tremendous quality of the coaches and
young women who compete each spring in this sport. A big shout out to the
Grantsville team. Quality on and off the field.
This is just the story I needed today. Thanks, Amy. After raising kids involved
high school sports, and one left to go, this story shows what I hope my children
have learned from their coaches. There is more to playing ball than meets the
eye. What an inspiration, Coach Taylor and Coach Bingham!
Coach Taylor went to my same high school, and was an awesome person then, too.
Congrats to her and her team, and good luck to Coach Bingham!
This is a breath of fresh air - thanks Amy. After just reading a rather
depressing article about how Minnesota is considering state legislation to
protect coaches from being let go due only to demanding parents/community
members, due to that becoming such a problem..... it is stories such as this
that reinvigorate me as a coach and remind us what high school sports should be
about. As a coach, I hope to teach my kids about so much more than the sport
itself, or simply wins and losses. These are the life lessons and experiences
that build our youth. We could all learn a lesson from this - coaches, players,
and community members alike. Thank you!
