Why did it take the shooting and killing of a young women for the audit of the
police department to take place? Where are the public safety measures? We are
always given the impression that police officers "walk on water" and are
pure as the "wind driven snow". Someone sure didn't do their job
here and unfortunately it is going to cost the WVC PD a lot of money, which in
this case looks justified.
We should have clued on it, when they couldn't figure out what happened to
Doesn't surprise me, since a West Valley police officer lied and took
advantage of me when he sold me a car a couple of years ago. While I believe
most policemen to be honest and trustworthy, it was a stinging reminder that
there are some that you just can't trust.
We are supposed to teach our kids to respect officers, but I have had a very
time doing so, since there are so very many examples of police misconduct. Even
though most officers don't do this type of misconduct, they are not always
the best examples: Haven't we all seen officers tailgating us, speeding
(without lights on), making illegal Uturns, etc. Then they cite us for doing the
same things. I've met a few cops who go into the profession for all the
right reasons, such as service to others, and I have a few friends who are cops.
(I was riding in a car with one of these friends when he got pulled over for
speeding. When the on duty officer found out he was a fellow cop, he let him go
immediately.) But I've met many cops who go into the profession because
they like to bully others, boss others, and throw their weight around.
Dirty cops need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. No excuses, no
leniency, no plush accommodations if convicted.
The dirty cops really bother me. But, It's the so called "good"
cops who cover it up, look the other way, and fail to report it, that really are
the problem.Rather than the "blue code" I wish the police would
have the "honor code"
A police state or martial law leads to corruption and abuse of power and
infringement on constitutional rights guaranteed to individuals.Let's keep power separated and divided with three branches of government
vertically and horizontally by s local sheriff directly responsible to the
"Cover up" and "government" are synonymous. Watch for a
government cover up here. There will be no transparency here from ANY agency.
This is one more all too common reason for the citizenry to NEVER trust any
government agency, local, state or federal! We live in a world today
where money rules government and government rules the people.
The cowboys were supported by the others. This is the problem with the "us
vs them" mentality.
"Watch for a government cover up here. There will be no transparency here
from ANY agency."Uh. . . John, you realize that the article you
just read is all about transparency of the government. The government of WVC
released all of this information that you just read. What's more, they
called in outside agencies to investigate them, giving those outside agencies
unfettered access. This is an example of government transparency. John, don't let your hate of government and your embrace of conspiracy
theory stand in the way of reality.
Wow, this is just like the film about the crooked police in New York that was
televised last night! This is happening in Utah?????

word in your statement is "all". How do you know?
All who wish to enter law enforcement should be required to complete at least a
2-year Associates Degree. Completing some upper education is a refining
experience. Too many officers are ignorant people.
Yeah, you're right, dan, WVC PD asked an outside police agency to come in
and investigate this as well as the FBI, and the DA's office is involved,
they have been keeping the media in the loop, but yeah, they are going to try to
hide things. Right. Brilliant.
I wish someone would just start a petition initiative to return WVC govt. to the
unincorporated county. Most of us who live in WVC basically just
tolerate the govt. anyway. The police have been a bad joke for years.
3 of my neighbors moved just in the last year because of (continual)breakins
and violence all around them. They told me when they call the cops, the cops
(when they do show up)show little interest. The ONLY people who
really like WVC govt. are the ones who work for them, their 6 figure salaries
are the obvious motivation to "cheer" for the city.
"It is still unknown whether officers in the narcotics unit will face
criminal charges, he said."To protect and to Serve - Or if not,
To Get a Slap on the Wrist.....
J-TX, I agree with you, the police involved need to be prosecuted.
The West Valley Police Department is the poster boy for why there should be ONE
police department in Salt Lake County as a whole. Not 10 plus the state
