If this were a 37 year old man and a 17 year old girl he would get 10 years min
and have to register as a Sex offender for life. I agree with satch. Double
I agree with AZ Blue & Red, and satch.
Our legal system is nuts. Forcible abuse?
210 days in prison for illegal sex and the woman who committed negligent
homicide for killing a man in Provo when she pushed him onto the Trax receives
201 days? Please don't ask why we don't understand the legal system.
I hate to ride coattails here, but "double standard"... I teach in this
lady's former district, and to have her only given 210 days with everything
else we've got going on here is just incredible. That is scarcely any
punishment at all... I know we've not been given the whole story (rather,
the whole story has not been made available to people outside of the case), but
something is very, very wrong here. Moreover, it sets an incredibly horrible
precedent. Next time this happens, and it will, this WILL come up at sentencing.
Don't these people ever learn? Don't any of them watch the news? To be honest, it's a little hard for me to see a seventeen year old
as much if a victim. But, legally he is. I can't believe she didn't
realize that he would talk and she would be caught. This sex-obsessed society
we live in has people thinking that whatever feels good is acceptable. But,
you'd think a grown up would have enough sense to realize what the stakes
are. It's the same story over and over.If these people
don't have any morals, can't they at least have some brains?
@snowyfile - 76-5-404. Forcible sexual abuseGo search
it and read what all it covers. It's a second degree felony.
Agree, double standard. And the solution is not more prison time for these
non-criminals, non-threats to society. Reduce punishment for men as well in
similar situations (consenting 17 year old). We need to reserve our already
limited prison space for the true threats to society.
Women have been pounding down the door of equal rights. I believe with the
equal rights should come equal punishment. There is no way this represents
equal punishment. Absolutely right this was/is a double standard.
