Dominating win for the Cougars!
Any time the Cougs beat the utes is good.
It's tough for a second-tier, regional school like the U to compete in more
than one sport at a time--or even to field a complete array of athletic teams.
BYU has to be content playing the Utes in what programs they have, then look to
the top tier of the PAC and other conferences to compete in the rest of
collegiate athletics. Pity, really.
Would love to see the cougars come to Seattle and play the Sounders reserve.
Let's get that done!
I wish they played D1 Conference soccer.
WA_Alum&Dad, club sports are no indication of a school's athletic
programs. They're nice for the people that support them, but really have
nothing to do with the school at all.
Sounds like Utah played tough but ran out of gas in the second half. Not
surprising actually considering the team was picked last Tuesday. @
WA_Alum&DadCounting all sports so far this year, Utah has won
the majority of the time when playing the Cougars.
It's pretty ridiculous this counts as news. BYU prepares all year to play
in the PDL (A league made up mainly of college players staying in shape in the
off-season), while Utah is a club team of part-time players who receive no
support from the school and are pretty much student run, (and if you think BYU
doesn't get school aid - you're full of crap) BYU then chalks these
"pre-season wins" in their overall record on their website. Hurr durr
we're 2-10-2 in the PDL but we're 10-10-2 overall! Wins against club
programs at U of U, UVU, Utah State etc. don't really earn any respect.
They then proceed to get their butts kicked in the PDL by teams that are a
mish-mash of college players. Sorry BYU, proclaiming that by moving to the PDL
you're at a so much better level than DI programs is pretty sad.Worst part about this...I'm not a U fan. I'm a BYU sports fan, minus
this wannabe semi-pro team run by Watkins.
StGtoSLC"WA_Alum&Dad, club sports are no indication of a

at the hypocrisy of that assessment; we all know the kids on the hill would have
absolutely no problem beating their chests IF the Utes ever won a club national
championship.BYU's Men's Volleyball program is a perfect
example of how competitive club sports can be. As soon as BYU reclassified their
program from club sport to NCAA sport, the Cougars immediately started winning
@ deductive reasoningUtah won the rugby sevens championship in 2010.
I don't remember anybody 'beating' their chests about it.
deductive reasoning, the U has plenty of club sports that do pretty well. Pretty
sure ice hockey trashed BYU just as bad as BYU's soccer club beat
Utah's. But it still has nothing to do with the schools or their athletic
programs. LOL at your desperation to just start arguments.
2fer"Utah won the rugby sevens championship in 2010. I

of Rugby, as opposed to the full fifteen-man version of Rugby, which is ruled at
the collegiate level by California and BYU.
BYU was a better team there is no doubt and they should have been. The U's
team had tryouts 1 week before this game, in the 2013 year U of U mens soccer
team has had 1 practice all together, they should have lost about 10-1. BYU has
been practicing steadily since the beginning of the year i hope these two teams
can meet again in the fall.
