Exciting to have football going again. Optimism is always high in the spring,
but hopefully Utah takes some steps forward and gets back into a respectable
Great coaching staff this year. Good quarterbacks. Could this mean the offense
will match the play of the defense this year?
Ah, spring ball. It's when the weather has yet to fully warm and yet we
dream of the fall when the crisp air begins to kick in with football. In between
is the heat, swimming pools, family activities, and sweat. At least winter is
over along with the inversion and zero degrees nightmare.
It's an annual sports headline: "Utah opens (insert latest
O-Coordinator's name) era" Last year it was Johnson. Chow the year
before that. Another season of basement ball and I'll bet next year's
headline announces a new head coaching era at the U. Course, we might hear
about a new AD first, depending on what comes of the Nittany Ute swim program.
This team is LOADED with talent. Legitimately, this upcoming year may be our
best in 20 years and I totally see us contending for the PAC-12 Championship -
no exaggeration. Undefeated season is VERY possible this year.
Having a co-offensive coordinator is like having co-starting quarterbacks and we
have seen how well that has worked out. In the end there can only be one person
the players are listening to, time to pick Johnson or Erickson.
I just don't see any way that this team isn't in the Rose Bowl this
season. With all of the talent we sign every LOI day, with the best coaching
staff in the nation, with our PAC 12 membership, is there really any program in
the country more primed to dominate?
@ That's A Good One"It's an annual sports headline:
"Utah opens (insert latest O-Coordinator's name) era" Last year it
was Johnson. Chow the year before that".Wait! Isn't BYU
also changing O-Coordinators again? First it was Anae, then it was D'OHman,
then Anae again. At least Utah didn't run their coaches out of
town like the Cougs did with Anae after the 2010 season. Now Anae is back for
more!Let's face it! Both Utah and BYU are inconsistent on the
offensive coaching positions. But we'll see how this years Utah offense
does with a proven offensive guru Dennis Erickson calling the shots and teaching
Brian Johnson along the way. Don't forget, as bad as
Utah's offense has been the last few years, we still always manage to beat
the Cougs (which isn't hard to do)!
ElmerWe just have to wait til August before we get the next
installment of "Bronco, BYU primed for BCS run" headlines.
@RedLaVern - "I totally see us contending for the PAC-12 Championship - no
exaggeration. Undefeated season is VERY possible this year."@Drum and Feather - "I just don't see any way that this team
isn't in the Rose Bowl this season."Wow . . . talk about
Crimson colored glasses. I hope none of U every mock BYU fans again for over
inflated Spring expectations.I think someone forgot U are playing
Arizona, UCLA, USC, Stanford, Oregon and of course BYU. There is no way U win
all six of those games. Winning 1 or 2 of those games would be an
accomplishment. Not that the PAC will be a premiere FB conference, but maybe a
more realistic goal would be to become bowl eligible. The other half of your
schedule - Utah St, Weber St, Oregon St, Arizona St, Washington St and Colorado
should be more managable. All of U do realize the co-offensive
coordinator is a title only, right? Make no mistake, Erickson is the OC and
Johnson is back to being QB coach. Hopefully Johnson will develop to become an
OC down the road, but he will have very little say in the offensive schemes.
CFIT, Drum and Feather is a BYU troll Ute-pretender, similar to Mildred in
Fillmore and the like are to BYU, and if I had to guess, I'd say RedLaVern
is as well.Regarding the schedule, yes, UCLA, Stanford and Oregon
will be tough. USC, Arizona and BYU are all unknowns (as the U definitely is, as
well), though. It's doubtful any of them will be either straight up bad or
world beaters, and they all have the potential to be pretty good, but there are
so many variables on each of them, it's tough to say what exactly the teams
will be like.
Speak for yourself StGtoSLC. I've been a Utah fan for a long time and I
believe this team will be fantastic. The way we have recruited the last several
years, top 20 recruiting classes every year, and our coaching staff is the best
there is, means Rose Bowl for us. I'm with Chris B on this, I can see us
dominating the PAC 12 for decades.
Re: Drum and FeatherYeah, right. Nice Try.
Love the ute on ute cat fight over who is legit and who isn't. LOL!@imacamanSo do you disagree with your fellow utah
"fan" that utah will be good? Are you saying they won't be good and
Duckhunter:Since you're having some serious comprehension
issues, allow me to simplify this for you...ImaCaMan wasn't
suggesting that Utah won't be any good. ImaCaMan was suggesting that Utah
isn't presently the Pac-12's "team to beat" for a berth in the
Rose Bowl. Don't be so frantic and emotional.
That's a Good One, Hey nice post considering BYU can't beat Utah and
the Cougs are on their 3rd OC in 4 years.CFIT, Red Lavern & Drum
and Feather are obviously BYU fans posing as Utes. What Utah fan in their right
mind would be saying, "best team in 20 yrs, undefeated season, Rose Bowl,
best coaches in the country, blah blah blah". We all know that's not
true. Don't be so easily fooled by your own brethren. Ever heard of
Mildred In Fillmore?
I just hope u are all preparing for another basement dwelling year and another
year at the couch potato bowl. I think the only bowl game u will go to is the
bowl game u look forward to every year and that is when u play BYU. U seem to
get up for that more than you do any other game.Maybe u can develope
a new rivelry with someone during the next few years, of course that would mean
that someone would have to take you serious before they accept that position. No
one has yet!
Eddie:"I think the only bowl game u will go to is the bowl game
u look forward to every year and that is when u play BYU..."We
WILL play that game this autumn, but make no mistake....that game isn't OUR
bowl game. It's YOURS! Proof positive lies in the answer to the following
question:Who was the Indy-WACers opponent the last -- and ONLY --
time Lavell Edwards Stadium sold out, since leaving the MWC?Let me
know if you need help with the answer to that question. Otherwise...Case closed -- the "Holy War" is YOUR bowl game.
It sounds like naval lint is at it again with his head underwater pretending to
really be a navy vet. It's time to come up and breath the good fresh air
again. Didn't I read last year that you said the same thing? I think it was
you and many others. "We will go to a bowl game and challenge for the pac 12
south. We all remember how that turned out.Why do you keep changing
the subject on people? It was not about "Sold out". It was about bowl
games. This is proof positive that u fans will SPIN anything to suit their own
minds. u did not go bowling last year and you will not go bowling this year. Get
over it. u get up for the BYU game, u know it and everyone in the pac 10.2 knows
it. u will not be a threat to the south division let alone the whole conference
for many years to come if at all.Get used to the couch potato bowl
in between the toilet bowl while we keep going bowling year after year.
