I'd like to see what Mike Maock of the NFL Network says about Ziggy. I
have no confidence in McShay or Kiper.
None of those guys know anything. We need to know what ChrisB, Mildred, and
other Ute Trolls have to say-then we will know for sure.
How high Ziggy is drafted will depend on whether the team that drafts him is
looking for instant help or for someone who could develop into an elite player
in 2 or 3 years.
Andy Reid would take Ansah with the first pick, but he doesn't want to be
accused of favoritism towards his alma mater when he has just taken a new job in
KC. Ansah is awesome.
EdGradyI watched pretty much the entire weekend of combine coverage
paying particular attention to the day Ziggy was tested. I don't have exact
quotes for you, but Mayock had Ziggy as his #3 rated DE at the time of the
combine.Toward the end of the DL day, on-set, Mayock said he did not
consider ANY of the DEs would go Top 10, not even the two guys he ranks ahead of
Ziggy. But he did say, on record, he firmly believes Ziggy will be a 1st
Sometime is seems like these "raters" build a guy up to unreasonable
heights just to say I told you so when he doesn't reach those astronomical
levels. Yet the athlete is still an excellent possibility. No matter what
I'm cheering for Ziggy like just about everybody I know. When he does
start playing in the NFL, I'll be cheering for him there too.
If Ziggy is already getting rave reviews, does it really benefit him to
participate in the pro day? I know he could certainly help raise his stock, but
a poor showing could also lower his stock considerably.Just throwing
the question out there.
Ziggy is an amazing athlete and seems like a great kid. I'm sure
he'll be successful. Two comments: 1. why did it take soooooo long
for Bronco to use this guy's skills? 2. Why is Harmon making a big
deal of how fast Ziggy can run 100 or 200 meters? There is a reason football
players are measured on their 40 time.
He cannot be that good. How many stars did he have coming out of HS.
Still hoping for Ziggy to Green Bay.
Ziggy just has that everything 'it factor' doesn't he? From his
freakish physical talent, to his name and hair, Ziggy is all around cool and
fresh right now. He is a bit of a project, but don't we just all expect him
tho shine and thrive in the NFL.
UteMiguelGo Utes, CATwo comments: 1. why did it take soooooo
long for Bronco to use this guy's skills? 2. Why is Harmon making a
big deal of how fast Ziggy can run 100 or 200 meters? 1. Because if
you draw a straight line from where he started 3 years ago to where he is now,
the intersection of that line with D-1 full-time starter status is pretty much
with where he took over that position. Remember that he got a lot of starting
time before that in passing situations and he had a pretty good guy ahead of him
in the depth chart. But I suspect your interest is more in trying to embarrass
Bronco than pleading for Ziggy2. Because there are all the things
that scouts and teams check, like 40 and shuttle and verticle, and there are
intangibles that make a difference, like 100 and 200 and the fact that he
doesn't cross the field to run his mouth off at an opponent.
Eddie:"He cannot be that good. How many stars did he have coming
out of HS."He didn't play high school football. Don't
be so frantic and emotional.
@ Y dad/Y grad"and he had a pretty good guy ahead of him in the
depth chart."Doesn't matter. Ziggy was still clearly the
best football player on BYU's entire team, even though he is still a little
unpolished. Between Ziggy and Riley, Bronco is proving that he is either a poor
evaluator of talent, or that he sets his depth chart based on who he likes
instead of a player's ability.
